No, we need a militaristic theocracy that serves the one true god...

...Thor!

But seriously, as far as gods go Thor is the coolest. Which raises the question; why the hell doesn't anyone worship him anymore? I mean if you gotta have belief in a god, make it Thor for pete's sake! He rides in a chariot through the friggin' sky while making thunder with his mighty hammer ! Do any of the currently popular gods do that? Nope, didn't think so.

Norse gods? Didn't they make humanity out of some logs?

Oh, and to the question: Well, fucking duh!

No I think I like having a set of rules laid down by religion that no political party can amend to suit. That goes for Muslim, Christian and Jewish states.
The problems start if the state to starts letting other cultures dominate or think they should have an equal footing in what is either a Christian or Muslim (etc ) state.
Separation of politics and religion yes, but with a monarchy you can have the state and religion close without the influence of politics.
But in the end I'll fence sit, it works in the US (ready to stand corrected) but the opposite works in the UK.

I thought Heimdall was the coolest. Too bad they made him a villain on the anime Mythical Detective Loki --- Ragnarok

Yeah! To hell with rights and liberty! Who needs freedom when you have faith?

Please, we ALL know that isn't true. The gods made man and woman, until a certain SOMEONE decided to open that friggin box.

Yes! and we will turn Washington D.C. into the new Asgard and wait for Ragnarok, as it is written. While we're at it, let's build a huge colisseum that rivals Rome's and throw in all the religious fanatics left over from the great war. I'd like to see some rabid lions eat some Christians, as they did in the good old days.

Personally, the separation of church and state is a lofty ideal in America because of the religious majority, being the watered-down bunch that they are. Lofty, but possible. The religious majority, you know who you are, will have to give in to some demands. I sure don't want any Christian telling me I can't wear a crucifix upside down! Satan demands it of me, and well, I just plain like listening to the bastard.

I think they were just allowed to conduct marriages in Denmark (or rather, have their marriages recognised by the state)

I renounce my atheism, for I have found Thor and let him into my heart.

Now, the next thing for me to do is go door to door at 6 in the morn, and spread the good word!

PLEASE, it's all about Aegir. You know, the one that gave good ol' alcohol to the gods ;)

Though Freya's kinda cool too. Just the fact that she's goddess of war and fertility...

So you think that the people of the UK have less freedoms than those of say the US? Well you better think again mate! Plus most modern laws are based on religious rules or law. You think a country like Iraq under Sadam where the church and state were indipendant was that much more free than the UK? Well I know where I would prefer to live. Stick to your black and white world I'll live in colour with the sound on.

I was refering to religious influence of legislation in general, not any particular nation. Besides I wasn't being sarcasitic. I was being serious! I'm fully aware that UK is truly the land of milk and honey. However, your nation can never truly be great until you print "In Thor We Trust" on every pound.

Thor! Sorry but the Druids of my Kingdom (Northumbria) don't go for these new fangled gods!

Not to mention the fact that Thor's the son of Odin. Now Odin - there's a hardcore God for you. Only the cool gods maim themselves in the name of knowledge.

Sorry to butt in, but yes, there are followers of the Norse gods, they are organized, and they call themselves Asatru. Just one of the many delicious flavors of Paganism. :D

Not to mention that Odin became mortal, died, and rose again in 3 days ... 3 *real* days ... not dieing on Friday night and rising on Sunday morning like *some* Gods choose to interpret as "3" days.

Even though Loki is the Norse god of mischief and discord, and was expelled from Migard for his actions...

(see Ate -- Greek Goddess of discord for mythological parallels).

And, yes, I agree, Matantei Loki Ragnarok is pretty good. Loki's soooooo cute!!

Ah, so THAT's where they got the idea. Jesus is a Frankenstein of pagan gods.
I mean think about it, Hercules dad was a god. His mother a mortal. Now who else do we know with the same sort of parentage?
I'm sure we could draw tons of parallels.
