Well, the first and second hurricanes to hit the Orlando area since 1960 and the first to hit the east coast of Florida since 1992 (Andrew) have departed I can report the following....
My house sustained no damage whatsoever.
The rolling clouds and swaying trees do look better through beer goggles. (I sat in my back yard through most of the storm when it was not raining)
Not everyone had to evacuate nor did everyone lose electricity. (My lights did flicker a couple of times but remained on)
I did lose the top 15 feet or so of an oak tree in my back yard. When it snapped I went inside. ;)
Many people did sustain a lot of damage to their homes and many are still without electricity. I was fortunate on both counts. Both my neighbors will have to replace their roofs, yet my roof is still intact.
Now lets see what Ivan does.....
