First of all, let me cluck at your unneccisary dissing of the 914. It is a fine automobile and a sheer joy to drive. Harumph.
As far as car I would like, this might take a while:
914-6, '73 914 2.0 (pffffffffffhhhhtttt), Sunbeam Tiger II, Triumph TR-3/TR-6, Daimler SP250, BMW Isetta (300 & 600), Messerschmitt KR300, MG TC, '68 Mustang GT fastback (forest green, cookies to anyone who knows why), '59 Caddy(one of these things does not belong, one of these things is...), Lotus Elan/Super 7/'84 Turbo Esprit/Elise/Europa/Elite, VW GTI VR6, Mini (old and new), Amphicar, MG Midget/MGA, Ferrari 250 GTE (GTO goes without saying...), Jensen Interceptor III, Jaguar E-type/XK120/XK150 Coupe (I have no logical explination of that), '63 Split Window Corvette, my '67 Westfalia Bus (I got to give her love), Maserati 3500GT (the old one)....I probably could come up with more, but most people have stopped reading by now....

Actually I bet it is a fine car, especially being so small the possibilities are endless. I just figured someone would bash if I put any porsche down, by saying why does the 914 or 924 deserves to be in there?! blah blah. I notice you like the smaller more agile cars. I used to have a eagle talon awd, not much for engine but the turbo made it fun.

Thanks-I like your list, too. I've had dicast versions of at least half of those.
I'm a big dude, so I don't know what my penchant for tiny cars is, but oh well.
I forgot some Porsches (I was still peeved at the 914 being dissed): 356A, '76 930, '73 RS, an early 80's SC, '89 944 Turbo (the year they got the engine right), no complaints about modern ones (Cheyenne not withstanding, can't wrap my brain around a Porsche truck......nope, doesn't sit right). Goes without saying: 904 (okay, maybe not that one), 550, 917 just to have one....(At a vintage event I hung out with some dudes fixing one of the Gulf 917s like they where sitting under a tree workin' on a Chevy, except they where trying to figure out why the second fuel pump that engages for passing wasn't working...they used a beer bottle in the repair. Class.)

It would take to long to explain the circumstances, but I got a chance to drive someone's Talon turbo who I didn't like, so I kept slipping it into sport when he wasn't looking. Big fan of the AWD, very predictable and solid. I like it and would use it as prefrence in buying (which makes me like the WRX, though I wish it looked better. I liked the 22B that the brits got...bastards...)
turbo makes everything fun!!!

According to the magazine folk (cause I can't afford to drive past Porcshe lots, much less test drive) the new AWD turbos are more or less on par with the old 959. I never liked the 'gills' on the 959, too evocative of the Testarosa and Porsche should lead, not follow.
I read an article where someone took a new 911 Turbo AWD on this 900 mile road in Australia without speed limits........excuse me, got drool on the key board......

Dreaming is free. If we had any chance in the world to get these cars, it wouldn't be a fantasy. I do relate to the notion that a beater and a Lambo are both fantasies, but if your shafted into dreaming, might as well spend some time dreaming about something kick ass while you wish you just had something.

No, it was more Pope Hope's desire for a DeLorean. I saw that debut at the SF Auto show (I'm almost positive it officially debuted somewhere else, but I was a kid) and was taken by it. I don't know that they hold up well unless you have that childhood connection to them. Maybe they do. I wasn't even born before most the cars on my list where made.

I wish I had my bus (troubles and all) in high school. I had a bright yellow 77 Chevy Malibu (wait for it) Classic. What's the difference you say? Take all the things you think are cool about the Malibu, what's left is the Classic (http://www.geocities.com/todd77malibu2001/passengerrear.JPG) (the differences, this owner got bigger wheels to fill up the GIANT wheel wells that where there for NASCAR homologation, which made the street car look silly as hell, and mine had a quarter hardtop on the back-the hard top-the silliest thing ever put on a car, faking the convertable with the top up look, ridiculous.)
Imagine the car from Say Anything (http://www.angelfire.com/grrl/jen_garrett/images/youreyes.small.jpg), but yellow. Evoking that movie with that car never got me chicks....

My bus wasn't my usual car--my dad just had this magical ability to get humpties from people for nothing. Sometimes he didn't even ask for them--they just appeared in our driveway, and I would drive them for a while.
My main source of transport was a 1970 Pontiac Bonneville--454--that hit on about 5 of the 8 cylinders in a good cycle, had gold paint that hid the rust, and a taste for starters (I replaced 4 in 3 years). I also drove, on occasion, that VW bus described earlier, a 1964 Dodge of some type that had no floorboard--just mats, and a 1978? Buick Skyhawk with a driver's side door that was so heavy that it had sagged so it was impossible to close from inside the car, so one night I delivered pizza in it Dukes of Hazzard style. Fun times.

I had to do that in the Chevy after someone broke the window and the driver's side door wouldn't open. The brakes on the Chevy went out three years in a row (master cylinder) on about the same day. In retrospect, I don't think it was a good idea to place both legs on the brake pedal and press as hard as I could at stop lights to stretch.....
The 914 developed a similar (door) problem so that I wound up having to leave the top unhitched and reach in and open it. On it's final voyage that back fired when the top slipped off the car on the freeway, never to be recovered.
Now that I think about it, the drivers side door on the bus doesn't work....what the hell do I do to doors??? I'm a menace.....
I never had a clean enough record to deliver pizza.
Ultimately I can't compare with that litiany of troubles you have there. I wish you still had one of those, I want to expand on an earlier doc by doing one on people who drive cars that are more trouble than they are worth. I can't be the only one......

Well...I already have my supped up hot rod pick up truck that I've always wanted; I reckon I'd have to say a blue Dodge Viper. :D
Funny. I get to learn how to drive a car soon.

This (http://geology.csupomona.edu/janourse/Brent's%20Thesis/winter_in_lytle_creek.jpg) is suprisingly close to my current ride. Mine doesn't have: the symbol anymore (bastards...), the rack, one of the headlight covers. My curtains aren't bound (livin' dangerously) and I have one driverside Elephant ear mirror rather than the small round one pictured. Other than that, pretty close.

Quality...I ran into the specs on that car recently, the hydrolics are what grabbed me-it will actually dog-leg a flat tire, can raise itself to a 6" clearance and lower to a ??" (I don't know how low it will go). Looks like nothing else on the road, Maserati engine. Extra quality. Nice choice.

Of those listed, I'd take the Bentley.
However, by choice I'd have a classic Mercedes or Jaguar sports car frame, with completely rebuilt innards; new brakes suspension and engine. I love the looks of old cars but wouldn't want the cost of actually running one.
My first choice would be a 1954 Mercedes SL body, with the 2004 Mercedes SL mechanics (including the funky roof!)

I'll be modest and say the Chrysler 300, silver and fully loaded. Damn fine lookng car and a bit more affordable.

If you where stinkin' rich you could settle for this (http://www.engine-power.com/img/specs/mercedes-benz_slr_02.jpg) instead of gutting a classic. (supressing purist spirit supressing purist sp...)

GEEK WARNING: I believe that Jazz (ably voiced by jazz legend Scatman Crothers) was a mock up of the Martini Racing 936/5 (which always bothered me, because you think that the factory team would notice that their car kept running off to fight the Decepticons...or that there was another one out there that did that, or....anyway, you get the point.)
If I had KITT I'd want KARR.
So I could make them fight.
for my amusement.

heh have you seen the new figures, smokescreen is the Subaru WRX WRC car.
KITT minus David Hasselhoff would be much better then KARR, sure KARR has a cool attitude but he always loses :(
Grimlock needs new strategy...... im also a geek

Ah well, if it weren't for types like us (though I don't collect or read the magazines, but only one degree of seperation, really) there are a whole industry of people who'd have to move back in their parents basement....
If we gave KITT and KARR that laser...or teamed 'em up against Goliath...
Have to go outside for a second, remind myself of real world....

Voted 70 Chevelle SS, mmmmmmmmmm.......
I'd also take an AMC AMX.
I like the idea (.....back in the day...) of having a smaller than landbarge car with a landbarge engine.
As for paint, either blue with white stripes, or black with red stripes.

Wow, you don't see people go to AMC that often. Refined muscle car choice, thats pretty rare.

I'd have to agree. I don't care for that new remaking of the series either. They dropped the ball, they should have geared it towards us, the people that grew up on it. Kids will watch whatever, if they had targeted the writing to the old crowd, man. Sophisticated Transformers does not have to be an oxymoron, dammit. Same with Masters of the Universe, but I have a comlicated theory on that....(old timers have a slight chance of remembering....)

You guys all suck, nothing better than a Holden VL Commodore, with the Group A bodykit, and RB30 Turbo. Heck mine is non Turbo and I can get up to 195km/h no problems, with plenty more go in it.

My dad had a 1.8 viva, white with a black viynle roof.
A 12-cylinder Stutz Bearcat. Or a '67 Ford Mustang, 2-door, turquoise, 289 with a 4-speed transmission. *sigh* I had one of those once.
