Famous people you have met?

Mostly I'm interested in famous people you haven't actually gone out of your way to see-book signings, film premieres,etc...don't count.
It is more interesting if they came into your place of work,or you met them in the street,etc...
WHAT WERE THEY LIKE?
As long as you actually spoke to them or interacted in ANY way.
"I saw Pacino crossing the road" doesn't count.
I met Jennifer Love Hewitt at a building where I worked as a Security Officer.she was there all weekend while they did some filming.
It was KIND of disappointing-she isn't actually that attractive in Real Life, not ugly or anything, just nothing special,In my opinion.
And I feel like a dick for saying this, but she is a bit flat-chested.I'm not trying to diss her, just that anyone who has seen
"Heartbreakers" &
"I know what you did last summer"
as I have, will understand why I was expecting a bit more cleavage.Must have forgotten to pack her Wonderbra.
Ok,That's enough. On the plus side, she was very down to earth. No diva shit. She just sat in the Reception area eating chips on her lunch break.

Jamie lee curtis at four season's in maui hawaii (conceded bitch looked more worried about someone taking a photo of her wrinkly ass than anything else) the dallas cowboy football team at lowes hotel in pasedena during super bowl 27. Sat next to and talked with a nobody on the team at the time by the name of Jimmy Smith (wr). Everyone of them was down to earth other than irving he stayed up on his balcony while emmit and everyone else bullshitted with family and others at the bar and lounge area. Dan Bonebrake (unless you play paintball you probably never heard of him) was my teammate from 89-93 on phantom force of Oregon and we went to the 89 world cup in NY and got our asses handed to us. We beat Ironmen when it was Bob Longs team and there was not two seperate teams, at the western classic in Nevada in 92. I was the first true 'Youngblood' in paintball going pro at the age of 15. ... and now I suck ass probably... hehe I remember during our photo at the 89 world cup i was the only one on our team that left thier mask on (no it isnt because I would break the camera, but because we were worried about breaking the rules and being dq'd because i was under aged)lol

Hmm... of the ones I didn't go out of the way to meet:
* Maine's then-Secretary of State Bill Diamond (when I was in high school; he said he saw me at a soccer match acting like a nut).
* Figure skater Michael Weiss (I interviewed him for my community college's student newspaper)
* Rudy Sarzo (bass player for Quiet Riot at the time; previously with Whitesnake and Ozzy Osbourne) is a distant relative and he and I have met twice and have e-mailed on occasion.
* Various members of D.C. United and the U.S. national team when I was a beat reporter for the team
* Tom Boswell and William Gildea from the Washington Post and John Haydon (from the Washington Times) from my days as a beat reporter. John Haydon is a very nice guy and he approached me the week after D.C. United's coach gave me grief about a question I asked and told me I was right on with the question.
* Then-Prince George's County Executive Parris Glendening (and later governor)
* I debated a Maryland state senator on air and I asked Baltimore Ravens Coach Brian Billick two questions on air. My then-roommate was the producer of the talk show that had the coach on and I was a guest when I debated the senator.
* I interviewed Congress people like Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.)
* I've met and hung out with Chris Beckman from MTV's The Real World Chicago. Very nice guy.
* I've been in online chats with Arissa from The Real World Las Vegas.
* I've participated in the message board for the Carlson Twins (who made their name on the cover of an Abercrombie and Fitch catalog). They've written back to me a few times and are cool and really down to Earth.
* I interviewed Dick Gregory for one of my college newspapers. He's very polarizing, but a fascinating person to talk to. Very animated; often touched my boot to emphasize a point when I was sitting cross-legged across from him.
Those are a few of the ones that I wasn't going out of my way to talk to.

I got to play paintball with William Shatner twice (last year and just this past weekend). He's a great guy to talk to, real friendly even though he was exhausted from running around in the woods for 10 hours in 85+ degree temperatures.
He's actually a short guy, I thought he would have been abit taller!
I saved Andie McDowells dog at the Montreal Airport once. We chatted for twenty minutes. She looks MUCH better on TV, but a real sweetie and I'd do her.
I used to hang out with The Tragically Hip back in my university days. Good buncha guys, but haven't seen them in years.
Had lunch with Gary Carter (ex Expo, ex Met) when he was doing a benefit I was involved in. Probably one of the nicest men in existance. Very Christian.
I served Tim Raines (ex Expo, ex Other Baseball teams) and his family when I worked at a HoJo's back in the 80"s. Funny thing was, I asked his 3 year old kid (Andre Jr) for an autograph, not Tim: the family loved it! AND the kid plays major league ball now, so maybe my autograph will be worth something.
My mom f*cked Englebert Humperdinck many years go, before she got waaaay fat. She used to be a hottie.

Thats cool, I take it you use a automag? They were one of the better semi's when they came out I remember having one of those and the pmi3 the mag weighed half the weight of those 3's (before the compressed air when it was co2 and non syphon tubes or the little 12 gram capsuls). Plus they really have improved them through out the years. I got back into it a little bit when I went to the service, I played and reffed with a team named navarone down in san diego. We actually played them back in 92 in roncho cordova cali ( at a place called paintball sams), but when I met up with them in 97 it was all new guys. Before we had all the angels and bazzillion balls per second stuff, sniping actually was alot more effective and the original guns of navarone team was the best I had seen.

Back in the early 1992, I was going from my home in Albany to a gig in Chicago. I was flying on US Air and connecting through Pittsburgh (the old airport, not the newer one).
I remember hearing about a Star Trek convention in Albany that weekend, but I wasn't much of a Trek fan by then (I never really cottoned to ST:TNG).
I was waiting in the Albany County Airport when a there was an announcement about my flight (something about they're going to begin boarding in 15 minutes, or something). I was reading a book and not paying attention to the people in the seating area. Somebody asked "Excuse me, but what was that announcement".
I looked up and said "They're going to board in 15 minutes." As I started to look back to my book, it dawned on me... That was Checkov from Star Trek.
I snuck a couple of peeks and thought "cool, Checkov's going to be on my flight".
Well, we all get on the plane and for a Sunday evening, it's a packed flight... I'm sitting in the way-back (row 243 or something). I was in the middle seat, so I was miserable. I discover that the guy sitting on the aisle next to me is separated from his wife. She's farther up on the aisle. I say to him, "you know, I would be happy to switch seats with her, if you guys want".
He goes up to tell her, and they come back. I end up going forward and... guess who is next to me in the new row? Good Ole' Checkov...
I sit down next to the guy. After about five minutes I glean the following:
1) He dyes his hair. He's got white roots and a forest (one might say a DeForrest) of white ear hair. Maybe that's an aftereffect of the leeches in Wrath of Khan. I make a note to check Paul Winfield for ear hair when I meet him.
2) He flys coach. Sheesh, you think the con would've been able to comp him to First Class.
3) He just got done with a convention where he was plagued with obnoxious fanboys all weekend. He looked haggard.
4) If this plane crashes, the news headline will say "Plane crashes, killing Checkov from Star Trek, 270 others". That was both funny and depressing.
I figured that I'd give him a break and I'll be the guy who knows who he is and leaves him alone. And, since I'll be the guy on the aisle, I'll keep the 'unwashed masses' away by looking irritated when people come by. It worked...
After we get off the plane, I see him one more time at the zoo which was the old Pittsburgh airport. I'm off to catch the Chicago plane and he's off to LA or whereever. We cross paths and I give him a headnod... He gives me a headnod and we're off.
Other interesting sightings were Colin Quinn (twice) and Peter Dinkleage (the dwarf in the Station Agent). I might be compelled to describe them at a later date.

I met Bob Dylan at B.B. King's club in Memphis, TN. I hugged him - couldn't think of anything else to do. I ended up talking to him for a while. He's a really nice guy.
I met the Dalai Lama in Houston and actually was able to keep 10 minutes of his time just for idle chit-chat. He's also a very nice man.
When I was a kid, I met Dorothy Malone (actress from way back when, most famous for her role on Payton Place) when she came to stay a weekend at my great-grandmother's house. I now live in that house.
Shel Silverstein came and spoke at my elementary school and I got his autograph. I remember him being extremely tall.
I had dinner with Melissa Etheridge when she came to the restaurant my wife was working in at the time. She's a very tiny woman.
Oh ... and a whole slew of local, state, and national politicians. I even met Bill Clinton at a dinner my great-grandmother hosted for Anne Richards. Bill was still Arkansas governor at the time.

The first famous person I met was Frank Zappa in Kalamazoo, MI. prior to a concert. It was 1978 or so and I was 17. Having arrived quite early, myself & a friend hung around by the area where we figured his dressing room to be (where the hallway came out behind the stage in a hockey stadium, in the seats above.) He toddled out during a sound check and saw us watching. He came right over and spoke to us for about five minutes. He even gave me an autograph on the back of an old business card I had in my wallet. A very nice man, Rest easy Frank.
I met several people while I lived in Charleston, SC and worked in the public market. A lot of celebrities hang out at nearby Hilton Beach. I lived downtown on King Street right across from the 4 star hotel and in the middle of the historic tourist district. I met and had a short conversation with Sammy Hagar in the market. Exchanged pleasantries with Martin Sheen who was waiting outside the restaurant where I worked. I was even hired to be a background extra in the movie "Rich in Love" which was partly recorded at the Charleston public market. (you catch a momentary glimpse of me in a short transitional scene where they walk thru the market talking just prior to where daughter accidently hits the carriage horse in her car. I'm the the street cart vendor in the background wearing a black striped shirt and my old maroon military beret.) I met my "costars" Albert Finney and Kate Erbe during that time. And lastly, another friend and I met Tommy Lee and Vince Neil at a truckstop in Elgin, Illinois. I wasn't a fan of Motley Crew, but we dutifully got autographs for my buddies sister, who was. Too bad we weren't paying attention while Tommy was dialing the payphone, or we could've gotten Heather Locklear's home phone number, LOL.

We weren't sure if Bruce was going to show but he did and eventually came over to us and complimented us on our playing and chatted for a couple of seconds and we got a picture with him. I'm not a huge fan, but it was cool to meet him. I guess that doesn't compare to Frank Zappa or Bob Dylan. :p

My dad was working in Cincinatti (sp?), sitting in a bar after work, and then Bengals quarterback Boomer Esiason walked in with his center, Dave Remington. I don't know too many details, but dad bought a hat from the bar and both guys signed it. Apparently, Remington couldn't wear a knit shirt, as his arms were bigger around than dad's thighs.

My brother used to bartend for Blessed Union of Souls, so they hung around a lot. They even drove me to dance a few times when I was younger, but I had no idea who they were yet.
I also escorted Jessica Simpson, Nick, and the crew for "The Newlyweds" when they came to visit King's Island. She wasn't very nice at all, but some of Nick's friends were awesome!
Through escorts, I have also met Montel Williams, Ken Griffey Jr., and Bruce Willis. All pretty nice people, especially Montel.
I was an Irish dancer for 12 years, so I got to meet Michael Flatley and the original touring cast for Lord of the Dance. We all used to go out to dinner whenever they came to town. I also performed several times with Gaelic Storm and The Cheiftans.
This summer, I got to meet General John P. Jumper, Colonel Scherpa, and Brig. General Carpenter.
Last but not least, my brother's best friend Erin invented all the Mike's drinks. :D

I received an email from Lenny Kravitz one time(I had asked him a musical question),and had two emails from Anna Nicole Smith when I had found her personal website she had made.It was pretty bad! I also have Bobby Orrs autograph,Wayne Gretzky's,Bobby Hulls, and my uncle from Cali is sending me Arnold Schwarzenneggers.(did I spell that right?)

Just this weekend I was out drinking with Patrick Murphy of Gaelic Storm - tried to get Stevie Wehmeyer to come along but he insisted on going elsewhere to watch the BYU football game. Patrick's family is really nice; many of them live in Newport, where his band and mine played the same festival this weekend. (His sister is a hottie.) I knew the guys from previously; a couple years ago I was at an Irish music session in Northampton, MA and had no idea GS was playing across the street until Patrick, Stevie, Twigger and Bob Bannerjee came over to sit in with us. Ended up driving half the band home when their ride buggered off without them. Nice, nice guys.

I met Nomar (NOMAH!!) in a resturant with Mia Hamm. They are a couple of nice people. I had bumped into them on my way back from the bathroom.

I started racing on the same track at the same time as Jeff Gordon. One of us was considerably better. Guess which one. His family was bent to him being a driver, and as far as the kids went, he had that crazy intimedating square back on his Quarter Midget. I didn't hang out with him that much, and it was from the ages of five to eleven, so I don't have super vivid memories. Seemed cool.
I was playing sax in a festival in the Tahoe mountains when I met Bobby McFerrin(sp) and Cornilious Bumpus a year before Don't Worry, Be Happy. Bobby was cool, and even though his kids couldn't see the piano they could still play it better than most, which was irratating. bumpus was extra cool and I hung out with him because we where the only horn players there (it was a jazz choir thing and I DO NOT sing).
I've met Branford Marsalis a few times, though one less than he thinks (the first time I met him he went "Yeah, I remember you." No, man. You passed me outside the show and I stand out like a sore thumb, but it's cool...). He ignored a bunch of industry people and just talked to me for a while-really is into what he does, like on a base passion level. Would be doing it if nobody listened kinda thing. Love it. Jeff "Tain" Watts is a guy I would hang out with even if he wasn't one of the coolest drummers ever.
Tony Bennet shakes hands like a gangster.
Allen Ginsberg is (was) suprisingly approachable. Though in retrospect I don't know why I was suprised. We talked about Phillip Glass (how pretentuos is that? talking to Ginsberg about Glass....man....)
I talked Ralph Tresvant (New Edition) out of buying The Crow on laserdisc. He came to me for movie recomendations a few times after that.
Ryan Senate(sp), the bass player for The Distillers, was my supervisor at Tower. Cool guy, shitty supervisor. Another friend of mine is down in socal helping him move.

"Weird Al" was just at a concert. Not very interesting.
Gary Coleman:
I was at some music festival and they had a huge trailer full of ps2s (not released at the time). So I was playing some video games and all of the sudden the dude in charge announces that there's a celebrity there: Gary Coleman, and he would be handing out free stuff. When Gary finally got over to me, I stopped playing and said "Hey! What's up!" and he gave me this evil, fat, midget stare and said "Play the game." I asked "what?" and he said, even angrier, " Play the game!"
Needless to say, I don't take kindly to dwarves anymore.

well lets see...
i met Kelly Gruber (ex third baseman for the blue-jays and a golden glover) when he was in Vancouver on the canadians - angels training, i blew a kiss to pam anderson - who as it turns out is a bitch and couldnt even find time to smile. Ive seen Bobby Orr, wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier and most of the Canucks past and present, Ive talked to Mark Recchi in a liquor store which was pretty damn cool and i got a signed practice ball when i met the entire team of the BC Lions (canadian football) at their spring training camp in Kamloops the year they won the Grey Cup. J-Lo came to kamloops and i seen her - i dont think she talked to anyone - she just waved from her parked stretch limo for an impromptu photo op, and my uncle worked with Jackie Chan on the trains in Calgary (well south of Calgary) when he was working for CN on the filmcrew for Shanghigh Noon.
Ive also been lucky enough to rock out with quite a few bands over the years, the coolest i will have to say were Bad Religion (those guys are amazing and so low key) and my least favorite, a one hit wonder shit east coast band called Len, im not sure if they are even still around, but they came to the loops up to sun peaks and were a bunch of prepped out poseur shitheads - even though i hate violence i still wish i had punched that dipshit lead singer, he was such a prick.
And now the big one, or at least i think so... this summer i got to sit around a campfire with Magnum frickin' PI!!! Tom Selleck as it turns out, has a cabin not far from where I boat in the summer, in the sleepy little mountains of BC near Albas Park. It took me a while to figure out why everyone kept calling this guy by the fire "Magnum", i just figured it was some sort of nickname... until i got up next to the guy and actually said outloud and almost right to his face "HOLY SHIT!!!" he just smiled and laughed - then proceeded to give me pointers on how to pick up a girl i was trying to work that night. One of the coolest experiences of my life and one ill never forget.

Also, if anyone knows who the band AFI is, the lead singer, Davey Havoc, grabbed my butt. Sure, I gave him a hug, but is butt-grasping really an appropriate response?
LOL!!

Al Sharpton a good candidate? Tuwana Brauly (sp) fiasco anyone? Or are you too young to know what that was all about? THAT was Al Sharptons true colors.... Funny thing, his assistant was trying to pick up a girl who worked with me at the time. He asked her out....and she noticed his wedding ring. Funny guy that Al Sharpton. He would have been a disaster for the Democrats.

When I was small my parents hosted parties to garner support for Pat Leahy's first run for senator of VT, and he remains a close family friend (although I myself haven't seen him in years).
I went to highschool with Lisa Destefano, who is one of the heads of Sea Sheppard, an eco-terrorist group.
I also went to HS with Renee Montagne, the N.P.R. anchor, and Sean Collins who also works there. Also reporter Wendy Walsh, who at one time (I don't keep up) worked on Tech T.V., or whatever it is/was called.
When I worked in a hostel in Jerusalem, I met and hung out at times with some martial arts movie star, whose name I have forgotten... :(
Also I've met Kim Bassinger and Alec Baldwin.
And although he's not famous, my brother-in-law is one of the co-executive-producers of "King of the Hill".
Maybe more, I can't think of right now...
