List your political views here for easy referance!

Iraq: Frankly I have no idea how this came to be important. I was oblivious to the country's existence and then BOOM! it's all you see in the news. I was against it ever since I learned Hans Bliks never found anything. I thought "He has no weapons, leave him alone." I am even more against the war now.

Affirmative Action: Boo-urns. Why should some minority member get into school ahead of me just because he's in a minority?

Abortion: It is your right, but I have one thing to say to those who have had the operation: "Screw you!"

Gay Marriage: Has nothing but positive affects. It doesn't really affect me at all, but it will make a lot of people very happy.

Millitary: We need less soldiers, and cooler weapons, like lasers!

Environment: No drilling in Alaska! It's called a Forest PRESERVE for a reason. I would love to see businesses cut down significantlyy on pollution. I would also like to see everyone driving hybrid or electric cars within the next twenty years.

Energy: Less dependence on not just foreign oil, but oil in general. Hows abouts we start looking into anti-matter for our energy needs. just a little bit of that stuff creates a whole lotta energy.

Health Care: Probably impossible to make it universally availabel, but I'd like to see people try. Invest more in preventative medicine. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Homeland Security: Terrorism is not a huge threat. This may seem harsh, but 3,000 is a very small percentage of the population. We need to concentrate on making sure terrorists can't get suitcase nukes into cities. That should be the primary concern. Repeal Patrion Act. The rights of the many should never be sacraficed for the security of the few.

Death Penalty: Sticky subject. On one hand, there are people who should not be allowed to live, but on the other, who are we to pass judgement when we ourselves are sinful. Let he who is without sin cast the first lethal injection needle.

Gun Control: Much tighter gun control. Second ammendment only applies to militias.

Who should be elected: Nader, though that ain't happening this year. My slogan, Kerry in '04, Nader in '08

Them's me political views.

As far as civil rights are concerned I am 100% libertarian. However, when we get into other aspects of governance, I rapidly fly into the central-left. I am frequently opposed to privatization, and I certainly like the Anti-Trust laws. Laissez Faire kinda falls apart when you no longer exist in anything close to a free market, doesn't it? Plus, all the major breakthroughs of the last centuries (nuclear bombs, polio cure, moon landing, etc) have all been the products of a heavy push by the government.

Speaking of Nukes, I think the USA should voluntairly destroy all its nuclear weapons, at least such that only 200 remain, preferrably even less. We should also get rid of our chemical and biological weapon stocks, reducing them to the point where they don't exist for any military purpose save researching cures.

Furthermore, I believe the government plays a key role in maintaining the infrastructure of the nation. Heck, I think we should build an american version of the German Audobon (sp) running across our country in whatever logical directions (west to east, north to south at the least). It should be at minimum a 12 lane highway, with certain lanes designated as truck-only. Some lanes should have unenforced speed limits, and there should remain a few fast lanes where there is a minimum speed limit.

I don't really feel like going any farther in depth into my political views. Maybe another time. It would probably take up too much space.

It's called a Forest PRESERVE for a reason.

FYI....It is actually called a "reserve". Thus the name ANWR....Alaskan National Wildlife Reserve.

I can quite comfortably sum up my political position in one word "Green".

Iraq: It should have been left alone. The Weapons Inspectors should have been given more time to do their job and find the WMD, if there were any.

Affirmative Action: oh, so now because I'm white I am second class to some a$$hole because (s)he's got coloured skin? How's that equal?

Abortion: it's up to the woman

Gay Marriage: it doesn't affect me. Besides, gays are human and they deserve the same rights

Military: we really need to update our army (Canadian)... we need new equipment!

Environment: it's nice...leave it alone!

Energy: Well, there are alternative forms, but we need to find ways of makign them cost-efficiant

Health Care: ah, universal healthcare, it's a wonderful thing! But, I just wish the province wasn't so damned stingy with money! Stupid Liberals.

Education: it should receive more public funding, and all levels should be publically funded; from primary school, to secondary to post-secondary school; education is a right not a privilege.

Homeland Security: we have customs for that

Death Penalty: n/a

Gun Control: strict rules and tight regulations

Who should be elected: Jack Layton and the NDP

I agree with Kryo on all things but aff. action. True, basing it entirely on minority status is misguided, but most minority populations have less access to good education than us whiteys. Seeing as minorities are disproportionally poor, it makes sense to give them (or, hell, the poor in general) a leg up to even out the educational disadvantage. Not to say there should be a points system, just that it deserves consideration.

Iraq: Went in for the wrong reasons, but Saddam needed to be taken out. Just like any other similar dictator.

Abortion: Legalize it

Gay Marriage: Legalize it

Military: We seriously need to better train our men in urban combat, seeing as how it'll be used more and more as time goes on.

Environment: I kinda want to be assured that there will be a habitable Earth in 100 years, so please...take care of it, ya?

Health Care: I like it the way it is, as a middle-class American. I hardly go to the doctor anyway.

Education: Our children need a higher standard of education, and need the resources!

Death Penalty: Leave it be

Gun Control: Tighter rules and regulations

Who should be elected: John Kerry

Iraq: Should have been left alone. Now that we've gone and done it, what should we do now? If I had a good answer to that question, I'd probably be too important for NationStates...

Affirmative Action: All for Affirmative Action, which has done nothing but good. Yes, I'm WHITE... but this argument is way too complex to go into here. Suffice it to say that college admissions and hiring practices are, have always been, and will always be unfair. Given that, the unfairness may as well have a positive result. People who oppose affirmative action universally fail to understand how college admissions has always worked.

Abortion: Pro-choice all the way. Entirely up to the woman... and as late in the term as you want to go. If it were up to me, children could be "aborted," under certain circumstances, to within one year AFTER birth. Seriously.

Gay Marriage: My (straight) partner and I refuse to get married until it becomes a truly free institution. (We are trying to show conservatives that banning gay marriage will "destroy the institution" long before allowing it will.) Marriage is a right, not a privilege... for all couples.

Military: Less military. Period.

Environment: Eventually, we need to figure out how a zero-growth economy works. In the mean-time, much more needs to be done to protect the environment.

Energy: Use LESS, and use alternatives.

Health Care: A right, not a commodity.

Education: Public, and only public through the secondary level. Private primary and secondary schools should be illegal. (Another long argument, but this should tend to improve the quality of education for all, because it forces the most quality-conscious consumers -- rich parents -- to stick with the system and DEMAND that it be done right, rather than copping out to a private solution.)

Homeland Security: Not a bad idea... maybe someone should actually try it.

Death Penalty: I have no moral argument against the death penalty in the abstract. However, as long as we have a legal system that tends to convict and even execute as many innocents as the present one does, I think it should be banned. Perhaps DNA evidence should be required for death penalty convictions. (I am also concerned about the racism in the system.)

Gun Control: Gun ownership should be encouraged.

Who should be elected:

Yes, I do agree that the economically disadvantage should get help as well. However, I don't think that if someone of a white race worked hard to get their goals should be shove aside because someone of colour should be given the chance even though they may not be as qualified. I think that we should help ALL disadvantaged persons, both white and coloured; we shouldn't put out those who have what it takes. Equal chances for all.

Iraq: A good thing done horribly, horribly wrong. Saddam was a brutal dictator that needed to be taken out of power, but damn Bush seemed to take the worst possibly way of taking him from power.

Affirmative Action: Well I don't like it. How it can ensure less qualitfied people can get into the universities. But I wouldn't want affirmative action to not be used in the cases with minorities, but also in the cases of the rest of society. Like say your father and grandfather went to Yale, you shouldn't be able to go there just because of that. Oh, or if your father's friend has a hand in admissions and has the chance of making sure you are admitted just because of such.

Abortion: Only legal in circumstances such as rape, and uh yeah.

Gay Marriage: Nothing against it, mainly cause it doesn't affect me.

Military: For defense purposes.

Environment: Protect it all the way!

Energy: Start becoming less dependant on certain sources of energy. Start using less. And uh use alternatives and the like.

Health Care: It's nice. If only we could ensure health care for all.

Education: By far should receive the most funding. Definately. More should be done to make sure education is at a good level. Can't let the children of today not learn anything and be the dumbass parents, teachers, and world leaders of tomorrow.

Homeland Security: Would be nice, especially if we don't lose the freedoms.

Death Penalty: Hmm, sticky issue here. I would rather see rehabilitaion, but it seems like some people just can't be...

Gun Control: Restricted and better enforced. Permits and the like for handguns. Oh and mandatory gun education classes. Like people have to do to drive.

Who should be elected: Alfonzo V. Bluesummers. Failing that, Nader.

Failing both of those, anything to the left of the extremist Republicans.

Iraq: Was never for it. It was hypocritical labelling Saddam as a brutal dictator that needed removal when there are so many more that go unchecked. The USA knew that Saddam would not deny that he had WMD...to do so would have been political suicide for him in his own country.

Affirmative Action: I can see both arguments, but it doesn't really affect me directly. I dont know if we have it over here.

Abortion: Meh, I think the government should butt out of this one, but i'm opposed to it personally (It's not the childs fault that the couple were irresponsible) unless there is a health risk or in case of race.

Gay Marriage: Sure, why not?

Military: Technology intensive with low manpower, aimed at defence and peacekeeping operations.

Environment: Institute a pollution tax and more funding to environmental repair strategies.

Energy: Move towards renewable energy sources.

Health Care: Universal and good quality free healthcare.

Education: Universal and good quality free education.

Homeland Security: Well i'm not sure of what is like in America, but I believe to combat terrorism, stupid and undemocratic means of interrogation, etc. are unnecessary and wrong.

Death Penalty: The government does not have the right to take someone's life. (Police officers defending themselves, yes, however of cource)

Gun Control: Maintain present controls as they are over here, but increase penalties.
