If you've ever been to San Jose (or it's neighbor Fremont) or Sacramento (for a great example, it's nieghbor Folsom) you'd know that zoning laws a good idea and can be done horribly....I hate those places....(I don't hate Fremont so much, but.....)

zoning laws are responsible for the out of control rent prices in DC. They have more commerically zoned areas than residential, because they create more tax revenue. Meanwhile, we are forced to live an hour away and commute.
There was an article in the Post about it a couple weeks ago.

depends, we should have more laws restricting strip clubs in residential neighborhoods, but less saying you must have x type of fence with y amounts of wood on it and z amount of plastic
