So, who is it?
Is it Hendrix? Is it Townshend? Page? Knopfler?
Who do you think is the best Rock Guitarist? Personally, I'd vote for Hendrix, with the Who winning drums/bass, and mabye the Police close behind for bass.

Vernon Reid of Living Colour gets my vote (though I also like the minimalism of Andy Summers).
Pete is the best on that list, but my alltime favorite is http://img46.exs.cx/img46/5752/angus.jpg

Oh. Yeah, I've never really listened to Sabbath much, but I hear that they're pretty good.
I'm surprised Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn aren't getting more votes, although Jimmy Page is right where I expected him. Great music, Led Zeppelin.
'Oh Stevie Ray, you love that guitar more than you love me!'

Dear God, no, Randy Rhodes was not a member of Black Sabbath!
He was a young, classically-trained guitarist who became Ozzie Osbourne's songwriting partner and onstage foil when Ozzie went solo. Randy died in a plane crash some years ago.

OK, Ozzie, Black Sabbath, all the same.

not really, sabbath continued on under the same name in ozzy's absence. they had a lot of lead singers and were still black sabbath. ozzy is ozzy..

Where's Van Halen,Beck,Blackmore?
It also depends on what you mean by greatest...status,talent,longevity etc. I really dig S.R.V. and Hendrix. I read somewhere Hendrix still has sales around 3 million $ a year, considering he's dead. That's pretty amazing.
Peace

Hey, there's only 10 options and I couldn't really think of any others.
But yeah, Van Halen is good, so is Jeff Beck. Never heard of that Blackmore fellow, unless he's Deep Purple's guitar.
