Personally I prefer to wish people put entire sentences in topics, so you can know what it's about before entering it.

I've thought about it, and thought hey wouldn't it be great. However the Basic's of law are government by the (religion). For example, why is killing a person illegal, who said the killing a person is wrong.

Get my point.

I wouldn't hold your breathe, many christians believe that the bible should be part of law making and therefore have very conservative laws. The bible shouldn't be part of decisions for todays modern era, because of its bias against gays, womens rights, etc (in the old testiment) and this is coming from me, a conservative christain.

Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't aware that believing in invisible cloud ghosts was a necessary part of being a rational civilized person.

Well, it's a relativly GOOD thing that there's church influence on modern laws of civilized societies (murder is illegal, duh; stealing is wrong; no intercourse with immediate relatives; etc.). However, when it gets too oppressive and biased, then there should be a fine line. Such as Bush using Christianity to get laws passed, that should be illegal.

People need to realise that silly religious supersitions are not required to have common sense. In fact, they often contradict each other.

What kind of religous superstition do you mean?

Any and all of 'em. People think that belief in some sort of magical deity is required to have a sense of order. Why not base morality on rationalism, knowledge, and human interest? Common sense and deciency are not exclusive to any particular brand of religion (in fact they are a rarity among the faiths)..

That's just the problem. The religious right seems to think that they have a monopoly on patriotism and morality. Murder would be illegal even without the influence of religious strictures. Fear is a big motivator.

I think you have religon all wrong, or at least, those who understand religon wrong.

See, religon is not blind belief in a God and blindly praying and blindly following a book. Religon is merely showing compassion, happiness, all the good qualities a person can have. Religon is showing respect to those who deserve it, religon is helping out your fellow man. Religon is following what's in your heart.

So I get what you mean, being a Muslim myself, but I don't think you have a clear understanding of religon. I can't blame ya. I see religon being totally ****ed up in cases like the American government.

See, I'm an atheist, but I still have a code of morals that I live by. It annoys me to no end when people ignorantly imply that some sort of belief in divinity is necessary to be a decent human being.
Also, legislating religious aspects into the system would undermind liberty. Seperation of church and state was done to protect our freedom from religious tyranny.

[btw, New Vinnland, Heathengrad, and Nuknuk are all me. Usually when I post I forget to check which nation I'm logged in under.]

Understandable. I'm annoyed to no end when people think that for being American, I must be a rich dumbass. I'm also annoyed when people say racist (and unnamed...grr) remarks about Muslims. I mean, we're not bloody Anti-Christian smelly grunts with sniper rifles beating up women with bricks!

I think the only simple thing seperating your beliefs, from mine...is that I believe in a God and you simply don't. But our morals are similar if not equal, I'm sure. Does that make either or us lesser than the other? Does that make one of our beliefs incorrect and inferior? No!

I don't necessarily need a separation of Church and State. I need a separation of Church and Me. If it requires the State to protect that need, then so be it. :p
