As many Floridians on this forum have evacuated, I feel that it is our duty to bear it in mind. Anyhow, Frances made landfall, and being so big and slow moving, it looks like it'll be pretty destructive. But thankfully, it isn't as bad as it could've been. Frances was a Category Four when it hit the Bahamas (where there were only two fatalities, thankfully).

That's really all I have to say, too. I'm just surprised no one brought it up.

The headline says it all. It's very sad that these jerks exist.

My folks just phoned from Clearwater. They drove over to evacuate my sister from Palm Beach and told me Lake Wales is a mess. I also heard that roadworks in Valdosta, GA, had put I-95 down to one lane, causing a lot of trouble for evacuees.

And it may not be over yet. Hurricane Ivan had been upgraded to a category 3 and is already heading in that direction...

What did Florida do to piss off Mother Nature so bad this year? Give the Everglades an enema?

Judging by what the weather channel is saying, it'll slam into the lesser antilles then up Northwest towards the US! I hope this doesn't happen because frankly this is getting old. Reminds me of 1995 where it seems that most of the name storms hit the USA.

I used to live in Florida, so I remember well how scary and destructive hurricanes can be. Not to mention that I was down there for training and got hit by the last two.

Here's a shout out to Crimson Blades, and the others down there. I hope your homes aren't as badly damaged as mine was during Andrew.

Okay...so if we pretend Mother Earth criticizes us in the form of weather...

Canada must be jerks to get the cold shoulder
Cuba must've bribed Mother Earth
Australia did something wrong as they are one huge desert island
The Bahamas did something to deserve all these Hurricanes

etc. etc.

Do you see Washington D.C. get jack?

HAHAHA!!! Now this has got to be closer to the truth about this than any theory on weather I've ever heard.

I've got some family up in the Fort Myers area who got hit pretty bad by the first two hurricanes, but luckily for them they were in one of four houses on their block that kept its roof. Frances looks like it'll miss them, though, which is pretty damn fortunate for them and the two other families now living in their house.

Thank God for cell phones, is all I can say. Otherwise we'd still be wondering if they were alive.

I live in Orlando Florida, It affected all of Florida, no damage at home or family, power went off sunday at 9:00 AM. , came back 9:00 Pm. 12 hours.
I dont like people protesting about thier lights, we have to understand
millions of people are without lights and it takes time and there are prioritys
sure I was going crazy without my light, my computer, my nation state,
but I protested to myself. Republican Governor Jeb Bush is doing all he can,
what is he supposed to do other than that. President George W. Bush has
declared Florida a disaster area as he should.
