I will be so extreme as to say that even Dani Filth, the "vocals" from Cradle of Filth is still better than the vocals from King Diamond...

And thats pretty extreme... considering that Dani Filth screeches what seems to be unintelligible gibberish...

Man I wish they had some good Australian Metal, don't get me wrong AC/DC are the best, but I killed the Prom Queen, and the Killchoir Project are far better than some of that crap there.

i like maiden but they made an entire carreer of turning movies, tv shows, books and a romantic poem or two into metal songs. its cheesy but with a certain undeniable groove.

that actually is the correct title of the novel the movie was based on, i'll give them that. don't get me wrong i like maiden, but they did it alot and it does have a strong element of cheesiness. i'd bet the true total is somewhere between a third and half of their songs.

Personally I just can't stand their clicky bass sound, but then i don't really like metal much. I can listen to maybe a couple of Iron Maiden tunes before I wonder off in search of something which will hold my attention, but having said that, their are certainly a lot of worse metal bands out there.


EDIT: add Stranger In A Strange Land (Heinlein novel title) to the list, I assumed that you would have listed that one.

At max a third... and whats wrong with that anyways? i'm actually glad that thres a band that actually reads novels (there arent that many movies and tv shows they made a song of) and its iimpossible to look at lyrics alone when one talks about their works... i mean "Phantom of the Opera" had horrible lyrics but it was the guitar riffs that made the song incredible.

And you are really starting to stretch things saying mercenary is based on predator... REALLY starting to stretch things... we can do that kind of stretching with any band...

Who the hell is Symphony X? That's who I got. And Dream Theater second...ugh.

Symphony X is a prog-metal band. They remind me a fair amount of Rush, but I've heard comparisons to all sorts of prog bands from the 60s and 70s. I've heard one of their albums, The Odyssey...it's quite good from a technical standpoint, although not as emotional as I think it could be, which is its major failing.

This just raises the question of what you were doing at a Billy Idol gig, no?
