Anybody know what/where the satanic messages in Stairway to Heaven are?
Farmanhouse

they are bullshit, Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands and Stairway to Heaven's Satanic messeges are fake, same with the Queen ones in "Another one Rides the Bus" and Britney Spears, All FAKE.

I'd never heard about any satanic messages in that song... where did you hear about that?

It's so incredibly ironic that you posted this message. Let me tell you all a story:

I have a punk band, Furious George. We recently decided to spend a couple grand on our own home studio, which we set up about two weeks ago. We decided to sleep over in the studio our first night of recording, which just so happaned to be last Monday.

Well, late at night, about 1:00 in the morning, we were talking, and our drummer mentioned the same thing: There are satanic messages in the song "Stairway to Heavan"...we didn't believe him.

However, I mentioned that we were sleeping over at the studio, right? So, we went in and powered everything up. Then we recorded "Stairway to Heavan" directly from a CD onto our recording device (an 8-track cassete recorder) Then we flipped the cassette over and pressed play, which in essence was playing the song at the same speed backwards.

It's mostly unintelligable guck, but there is one part where you can distincly hear "suffer sad satan". Apperantly the whole phrase is "in the toolshed suffer sad satan" but that's more of a strech. There are also references to "the Lord", and we could also make out "Allah" "Yahwe" and another random God.

It's very strange indeed, but safe to say, we proved that there is words spoken backwards, whether intentional or not!

Why would an artist seriously even bother adding "satanic messages" to their recordings? What would be the point?

I mean all of this is just like the urban legends kids used to tell each other back in elementary school.

Apperantly Judas Priest added it to their music intentionally...Then again, they also got sued for causeing two boys to commit suicide. I'm guessing they stopped doing that!

The song actually describes some pre-christian, pagan beliefs *Just a spinkling for the May Queen etc* I.E. "Satanic" Ideas.

Ideas that by the way will rot your mind and soul. :p

Well, I don' buy the pokemon rap one...but the Eminem one is impressive and I wouldn't be surprised if Slim did that on purpose.

the line is: "Oh here's to my sweet satan. The one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is satan. He'll give you give you 666. There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad satan."

I suppose it makes sense, though, what would happen if you go backwards on the stairway to heaven?

Real Satanic music? most of the pop-culture never would recognize, let alone understand Satanic music. Whatever you hear on the pop staions is by definition not Satanic.

Satanism: Not for the masses, not for the Idiots.

Oh you mean apparently some idiot parents found the words "Do it" in one of their songs when played backwards... (wow... what are the chances that they did that intentionally? AND WHY WOULD THEY?) and thought that had some connection with their kids suicide.

Why would anyone back-mask subliminals? Then, although if they were heard they wouldn't be understood. Iron Maiden actually put a backward message on one of the albums (I forget which one) That Said: "don't mess with things you donnot understand. BUURP"

No. We aren't big enough to get any sort of review...we're just a bunch of high school punks! We've resigned ourselves to have a name as other bands, even though we know there are at least ten other bands out there with the same name...cause we've tried many different names, and they all suck!!!

Maybe, Valderixia. It has been literally a decade or more since I heard it. I was never much of a Maiden fan and only bought it because at the time Metal was popular. MEH

The "satanic messages" in songs played backwards are a testament to the incredible pattern finding ability of the human mind, even when no pattern is intended. We hear language around us so much that we cannot help but pick out what seem to be words in gibberish. It just happens that the words seem to form (what are often disjointed and nearly unintelligable) satanic messages when certain words are reversed.

Thats exactly the explanation for "Do it" in that Judas Priest song...

If musicians would really put hidden messages in their songs, I think they're be more along the lines of "Buy all my albums! Buy all my merchandice! Go to all the shows!", etc. Not "Worship Satan. Kill yourself. Eat your family. Sodomize a goat. Vote Republican." ;)

It also makes you wonder who the hell buys a record then decides they want to play it backwards. Well, apart from the Britney Spears album obviously.
There was also all the "Paul is Dead" crap on Sergeant Peppers. In fact if you're bored and want some amusement, put "Paul is Dead" into Google and enjoy some real admirable conspiracy nut-jobs work. Some ppl have far too much time on their hands.

I ask...but you'll have to act quickly, because as I mentioned, we're releasing an album...which is due in about two months. So you have even less time than that to come up with a good one, convince me it's good, and then have me convince my band that it's good!!!

Thank's for the offer...I can't wait to see what you've got!

And as a point of reference, we're a high school punk band. Our genre is called "Shredder Punk". We're the first of our kind (I'll explain in a minute!). Our music's themes are loosley based on either girls or politics. We also have a song about being young at heart (I wrote that one!), one about popularity, and one about Gay rights!

As for our sound, all of us listen to different music. Our singer/songwriter listen's mostly to mainstream punk. Our bass player listen's to Sublime-like rock. I can't say he listen's to one style or the other, 'cause he only likes some people and not other's. He loves: AC/DC, Velvet Revolver (but not Gun's 'n' Roses!) Sublime, The Rolling Stones and the Beastie Boys! Our Drummer loves obscure punk music and modern rock. He (like myself) also appreciates just about any style (he just bought a Christina Aguilara CD at a Garage sale, and he listen's to it from time to time!) Myself, I listen to hair metal ALL THE TIME...I also love classical music, jazz, classic rock, latin, modern rock, classic country (like Patsy Cline) and allmost anything. I can't bring myself to say I "hate" any one particular style, but I can say, with certainty that I dislike Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, and the song "Bad to the Bone"...

Now, for some obscure reason, we all work well together in our band. Our singer writes all of our songs, except for the one I wrote. Therefore, it's punk in nature. However, the rest of the band changes the music to make it less scream, bash and thrash, and more musical and talented. Then the "shredder" part comes from the fact that I'm not a bad guitarist, and love to do rippin' solo's!!! So, in the middle of punk songs, there's heavy metal-like guitar solo's!!!

And that's Furious George...formerly known as Caffeine, 20 Second's Gone, and The Flaming Pighouse of Death!

Well I can only come up with metal type sounding names, but since you actually have some metal influence, that won't be too much of a problem...

I will TG you a list of names... er... well I'll start making it up now...

Havent personally heard any satanic "subliminal" stuff in queen records but if you play "killer queen" backwards on the chorus (shes a killah- queeEEeen) you will hear "its fun to smoke marijuana".

Didn't they do a study on spoken language and find out that people tend to say things backwards in normal speech or something?

And how are songs being played backwards with messages in them Satanic?

Well, when the song say's "Satan" clearly enough that you can tell it's satan being said three times, that's pretty satanic...along with the "suffer sad satan", "666" "he made us" and the worst of them all "toolshed"! That makes a song satanic!

Or the Pokemon Rap "I Love Satan! I love Satan" That's pretty satanic! But personally, I think that one's a stretch!

And Amerigo, thank's for the Band names...when I actually look at them. I owe you one!

Motorhead recorded a song called Nightmare which had a heap of backmasked stuff on it, including "tea and cakes with Judas Priest". I dunno why anyone would bother with backward Satanic messages. I mean, there are enough bands out there with forward Satanic messages in their music to keep ya going.
