Was that in one election, or totalled over a series of polls? I remember that, in the runup to the 1988 campaign, Bill the Cat (from the Bloom County cartoon strip) apparently had more recognition as a candidate than any of the Democrat hopefuls. No idea how many write-ins he might have got, though.

Ok everyone must vote for Spartacus in the 2004 election to try and set a new record. I mean who cares about that serious election thing. Well you can hardly call it serious with a professional fool running for the republicans.
