Hey I was wondering...
..is history repeating itself? If I remember correctly the issue over slaves started out much like the issues over gays and lesbians started, if we keep this up, could their possibly be another civil war? Or am I just being a retard?

You know there has been studies conducted on this and men with extreme homophobic attitudes have been proven to have homosexual tendencies, this is why they are so against it, because they feel it's wrong, but they feel an attraction to men and that is how they fight it, by being so homophobic as if they can fight their true internal feelings this way. Studies have shown this time and time again.

If we were going to have had another Civil War, it would've been male vs. female rather than homosexual vs. heterosexual, only because women were given far fewer rights than homosexuals at this turning point in the fight for equality.

I think if there's danger of civil war in America, it'll be started by right wing theocrats, if they don't just get their way over all of us. Frankly, if they *do* get their way, people may find the oppression that'd happen chafes a wee bit too much.

Besides, these guys *do* have a scary apocalyptic streak that any sane person should be concerned about.

The gay marriage issue is simply a ploy to get more moderate types to feel emotionally-invested in their theocratic agenda.

Frankly, sane people should consider that whatever personal discomfort someone may have about gay people getting married is nothing compared to the social disorder and oppression that will follow if we Constitutionally-create a class of second-class citizens. Believe it or not, the numbers of gay people in this country are *quite* significant.

Actually - slavery was predominant in the South, because of the manual field work, versus the North's industry and commerce, but that's a far cry from saying that all northern 'blacks' were free-men.

The actual 'cause' of the war was the refusal of the Union to accept the secession of Alabama.

So - if California decided to legalise Gay Marriage, in defiance of a governmental mandate, and opted to secede from the United States...

Could it happen? Sure.
