Continuing with informing you all of the date's significance in WWII and WWI history, I bring you, September 4th.

September 4th marks the date French Marshal Joseph Joffre, Supreme Commander of the French Army, resolved to stop the retreat that had been ongoing since the Battle of the Frontiers (specifically Charleroi), and prepare a counter-offensive, in coordination with Sir John French of the BEF, utilizing the newly constituted Sixth Army (General Manoury) to strike at the flank of the German First Army, which would begin the First Battle of the Marne, that would dash German hopes of victory in the West for the remainder of the war.

It also marks the date at which Hitler announced the Luftwaffe would begin bombing civilian tagets outright, after the first few tit-for-tat raids that had begun with a staged bombing, and an accidental bombing.
