A New Time poll released today shows Bush in the lead with 52% and Kerry 41%. Nader with a piddling 3%. Margin of error of the poll was 3%.

Kerry must be feeling real jealous now, what with the new job growth numbers. Unemployment down to 5.4 and 144,000 new jobs created in August. On top of this job creation numbers are being revised upwards for the past two months by 60,000. Ouch. Ladies and Gentlemen, be prepared for FOUR MORE YEARS!

As I said in the other thread, we won't have a good idea of what the real numbers are till after Labor Day...That will give a better picture. Don't forget though, they call it a "bounce" for a reason. ;)

I'd like to remind everyone that Kerry didn't get a post-convention bounce because Democrats were already pretty much united for Kerry by the time the convention began.

There was no need to rally the Democrats ... they were already rallied.

The Bush bounce will end after the debates, which is where the majority of the undecideds will decide. Stop believing that the convention elects the President, it's the vote that does that.

More people vote based on candidate debates than they do on staged, carefully written podium speeches at conventions.

From what I heard some of the speeches at the RNC were pretty damn vicious, far worse than anything at the DNC. I'm thinking of Zell Miller and Dr. Evil himself, Dick Cheney here.

Still though, even with Kerry being lit into like he was being sprayed with a minigun of hate, that is a small bump. With speeches as vicious as those were, normally the bump ends up being quite a bit larger.

Funny that it is actually part of a cyclical hiring season right now. The vast majority of job hirings take place in August-October and from April-June. And 144,000 is actually a small number for most hiring seasons. There is less momentum there than you would like to think.

Funny thing is Fox News can't do math. Fox said 144, 000 and then :
The country is going great with 150, 000 jobs
Um hello, math says you can't round that up!
Its basic math to know 5 or more you can round up. You round down otherwise!

Well, that's more than the Democrats got. Even if this doesn't mean the numbers will be a double digit lead forever, at least this'll get the base riled up for Bush.

Some thing to keep in mind here folks, keep it in perspective, after the DNC convention in 1988, Michael Dukakis got a 16 point bounce and it didn't do him a damn bit of good now did it! ;)

They could be using old math. I think that meant EVEN rounded up and ODDS rounded down.

I could be wrong though...but that doesn't make their little rounding up any kosher.
