What is everyone's opinion on senior drivers? I personally believe that when you reach the age of 75, you have to take yearly driving tests to determine if you are still capable of driving like a normal person. If you pass you keep your liscense for another year. If not, you lose it permanently.

I find them annoying! They drive too slow and are a general menance!

Old people speak out against young drivers:

"Those whippersnappers are annoying! They drive too fast and are a general menace!"

That doesn't include me, because I only my G1... I need my G2 to drive without someone with a G... (classes of driver's licenses)

If genetic research had enough funding we may wouldn't have any senior drivers. As everyone would have the youth and reflexes of a 30 year old.

donĀ“t know how its in your countrys but in mine most car crashs are caused by people under 25 and not over 75, and here are not much old people driving a car most of them take the bus or walk

Haha... same here... I'm still stuck with my G1

Anyways about senior drivers, I agree that they should have to pass an annual test. I mean, if they can prove that they are just as capable of driving as the next person, there's no problem, but I suspect many would fail.

In the UK where I am resident, you can drive till your seventy, then you have to have a stiff medical before they will renew your drivers licence.
Senior, or older drivers are not slower, they drive within the speed limits and are more cautious than there younger counterparts. Im a big wheel driver and believe me, you would be surprised at the arrogance and cheek of a lot of younger drivers, they have no road manners at all, think flooring the gas pedal will get them out of trouble, but they always end up worse off because they have not had the experience. You cannot put an old head on young shoulders.
They that proffess to know all about driving know nothing, I am still learning now, and I have been driving a considerable number of years for a living.
You never know what awaits you around the next bend in the road, so take care all you guys, it could you in a fender bender next.

i dont know about yearly driving tests but they should be required to renew their licenses yearly (for free) IN PERSON and take a vision test. if they get handicapped tags for their car they should have to take a road test every year.

I'm thinking 55, not 75. And probably every few years, not every year.

The one thing that scares me about senior drivers are their eyesight. They insist that they can see clearly and then a lot are leaning forward and squinting while driving.

Not too long ago, an elderly gentleman hit a teenager (who was in the crosswalk with the walk signal), and he said he didn't see her.

They should have to take their drivers test every 6 months.

My co worker adds in that the vision/knowledge test should be every 6 months, and the actual driving test once a year...

I doubt it works... we tried it here in Ontario or at least still are and there are too many of these lunatics out there!
