Whining hippie Liberal / Gun-nuts redneck Conservative

Now, before I begin I like to say that I define myself as a leftwing liberal, but I'm trying to take a neutral stand in this matter. (And plz ecxuse my english spelling)

How many times have I been called a "bloddy communist"? How many time have I been called a "hippie treehugger" or a "whining protestor that should get a real job". Its like some people just wont listen to me because they think I'm one of those "whining liberal hippie". Its not about topics anymore, is it? Its just about wich group I belong to and how many are in my group.

How many times have I called someone "a bloddy facist"? How many time have I called someone "a Gun loving nutter". How many times have I just ignored what someone says because I think he is a "A Gun-nuts conservative redneck, thats should stop beating his wife and step into the modern ages".

We have the ongoing discussion on TV about liberal vs. Conservative views and the same old topics "gay marriage", "abortions", "big buissness" and "privatisation". However we never get to a conclution like Socrates did with his subjects. We just keep on going, calling each other names and generalize about eachothers way of thought. And sometimes it doesnt matter how valid point the opponents make, you just have to be against it, because of your almost-holy dedication to the "liberal" or the "conservative" group.

We view politics as black'n'white and in the end its not about the topic, its about the image. Who are cooler? Conservative buissness men or Liberal hippies? An example of this fight over image is how suddenly the presidents family step forth in the Bush campaign, or how Kerry is pictured as a veteran. Nothing to do with topics as such. Perhaps tells you a litle about the personality, but a few things about the politics.

Just a example of how it really doesn't matter. Who would you rather choose? A man born in a toilet at a ball and has some alcohol problems, litle and fat, or a man who is usually clean, atended art school and always stayed sober?

Well, the one is Winstone, the other is Hitler

Lets stop talking about the image of the groups and be topical, here and everywhere else we go to talk about politics. Lets stop and think about our "political belives".

Hope u get my point... this text is a bit messy :p

This is the problem with bi-polar political scene.
It's just a show so as to keep people busy and happy. Politics don't change.
Politicians are clowns.
Like those doing debates on TV. Their job is to support their party. Changing their mind is not an option because they are paid by their party to support their ideas. The debate is totally pointless.
People love to watch this though. They like to watch people fight on TV, just like children love to watch catch.
I'm guilty as well. I'm french and I love to watch le pen(far right nazi) on TV. His politics are stinking to death but I love to see him shouting and screaming, accusing everybody, getting heated and angry, sometimes even going to the hands and punching his opponent (yes seriously it happened).
This is the kind of show I like to watch. The romans had it right. Bread and games. It keeps a sleeping population happy.
I think what people want in debates is heat and emotions, not the truth or reason. This is why Berlusconi is popular. He doesn't need to have a vision, just to be a good show man.

Well... In fact I love Bush more than Kerry...

I am European, and Bush is very good in making mistakes that drive European nations more into making one policy. I really don't care how bad American economy is. Bush is squandering a lot of dollars, and that is good for the euro. So please! Vote for Bush!

In that way Europe will come side by side with America.. :)
