Bush Campaign Shift: Now, It's a One-Man Race
by Scott Ott
(2004-08-26) -- President George Bush today announced a major strategy shift in his re-election campaign brought on by what he described as "the failure of my nominal opponent to present a single reason voters should support him."
The Bush-Cheney campaign will now simply ignore John Forbes Kerry, the Democrat candidate and Vietnam veteran who is also a U.S. Senator.
"It's hard to mount an entire campaign against an opponent who has no record, no bedrock values, no consistent positions, no new ideas and only wants to talk about something he hasn't done for 35 years," said Mr. Bush. "So far, the fight has been between me and anti-me...Bush against hate-Bush. From now on, we're looking at a one-man race for the presidency."
Campaign insiders said TV and radio ads will no longer mention the Democrat candidate, but will simply focus on the president's record and his vision for the future.
"I can't change people whose hearts overflow with hatred," said the president. "So I'll just focus on rallying those whose minds are still open. We're going to target what you call your sentient beings."

lol
what a good strategy
Right, I'm sure THIS will last a very long time.
Maybe he finally got the drift that people were sick of his hate mongering?

Looks like Bush fled from attacking Kerry: ironic that Freinds of Bill makes someone who fled, turnerd awol (fleeing from your job), etc.
Glad that Bush won't attack Kerry. i'm curious what the ads will say besides attacking Kerry. So far, I've seen little else.

He's gonna shove his foot into his mouth, I'll bet anything.
"Hey, Dick, Rummy, I got this great idea for a comercial!"
"Humour him" (to rummy) "Yes George, what is it?"
"How about...'Vote for George Bush'-that's me-'He's the guy who got your through 9/11!'"
"Er, we'll mention that to the ad guys, George. Urm...oh, do you hear that? I think your dad just called."
"What? Wait, which?"
"Uh...the...more important one."
"Oh, right! I need to go pray now!"
Am I the only one that misses the show "That's my Bush?"

If they do, it'll be the first time since the campaign started. Hell, there hasn't been a speech at the convention yet that didn't slam Kerry instead of offering a substantive plan for the future.

If this is his future plan, then it is one that has worked for an incumbent before. President Roosevelt used it against his opponents in 1936 and 1940, completely ignoring them and their activities, and basically ignoring the election until around September/October when he would remind the country he was the President who had led them through the Great Depression/Kept them out of the War in Europe and China/etc. without ever mentioning his opponent. He won in a landslide both times (electorally, and a fairly large margin in the popular vote).
Bush has given us more reasons NOT to vote for him than Kerry can give us reasons to vote for him.

Thats what politicians do when they have nothing else to say.
Future campaign:
"blahblah Values blahblah Iraq freedom blah terrorism blahblah random bullshit remark that makes no sense blah vote for me blah no mention of OBL."

Heh. He's almost as good as the Onion...
I liked the "chant" story too. Thanks for the laughs.
(Unfortunately, however, there's just a little too much truth in the "one-man campaign" idea...)

scrappleface.com is a joke website. No need to worry about Bush switching his campaign's focus to his own record instead of what he wishes were John Kerry's record

The way a bunch of people took it seriously here reminds me of the time a Chinese government-owned newspaper used The Onion as a source for an article. :D

What a jack-ass
First he does ungodly amounts of mud slinging, But he does not have the balls to do it hims self so he hire the "Swift boat veteran for true" to do it for him. BTW over half of the members of that group were not in the war at the same time and place as kerry!
Then he has the nerve to claim that he is takeing the high road!!
GWB has not mentioned one issuse Exept terrerism, and that is just to try and scare us.
