he's one of the rare Dixiecrats who didn't reregister as a Republican. He stays a Democrat because he agrees with the Democratic Party's platform from back in the days of the Civil War. Anti-gay, anti-civil rights, pro-deregulation, pro-life, anti-environment, etc.

There is one significant difference between Zell Miller and a Republican, in that if we get fifty other Democrats in the Senate, Tom Daschle turns into Senate Majority Leader. Other than that, he's a DINO all the way.
