If it were not for the heroism of a bus driver, many more lives would've been lost. Unfortunatly, 15 still lost their lives.

IMO, this was an otherwise quiet summer. I believe it stems from something the world has condemned, but ironically enough, may be the best way to a two state solution: the West Bank barrier. Despite much of it being a meer fence, it has worked relatively well for the duration of its life. It crosses some occupied land, and naturally I'm unhappy on that, but otherwise, it is a sucess. It is also a success for the Palestinians. With less suicide bombers filtering through, Israel has less reason to intervene in the area. I also believe that this makes a two state solution all the more likely. The key demand from Israel is that it can gurantee its security with the creation of such a state. This fence ensures that. It is like the old saying, volo pacem, bellum paro: if you want peace, prepare for war. I am amazed how true this has proved to have been. But that's just my two cents on the issue.

This, btw, is somewhat unrelated, but tragic, nevertheless.

This, mind you, comes just days after two Russian aircraft were downed. Perhaps they should take Israel's lead, and build a barrier between Chechnya and the rest of Russia, while restricting traffic in and out of that republic.
