What will this day, in 876 years' time be like? What will the world be like? ight anything unusual happen on this day? Will people still be gearing up for St Patrick's Day the next day?

If there are people around by then, most of them will be stupid and lame.
Fact of life, timeless.

We will have just completed the great statue that pays homage to our alien overlords and be getting ready for the 175th annual "Earth Occupation Day".
A small group of freedom fighters will start a battle using capture alien equipment, but it will be squashed easily and a great feast of their flesh will be part of the celebration.
Their Emperor (whom we will call Xonrak the Consensus Builder) will start the festival off with a nice speech about how we should eat extraneous children and then he will tear the head off of our annually elected representative - a tradition nearly 100 years old by then.
That's it.

The polar icecaps have completely melted, the ozone layer is destroyed, and the next ice age begins soon after, turning most of the flooded planet into a giant ice shelf (that should all happen around 2400). Fortunatly, humans have successfuly terraformed Mars, and even made Venus and earth like climate, while colonizing most of space. Unfortunatly, there are billions of destitute, often uneducated colonists that are in a state of constant warfare. In fact, it sustains the economy.
There'd be the dust and bones of a civilization of 7 billion human beings, 820 years old, revolving around a sun on a giant, life-less rock...filled with radiation and carbon dioxide.

I strongly fear this may be true.

My head will be preserved and alive in a jar, horrified that I did this to myself.
