Right wing: TT, maybe our old friend Raysia, maybe myself (though I am not extreme)MKULTRA is not the most left wing, he's just very shrill about his views.

I'd say that Bottle is the most classicly liberal (liberal on econ as well as social), but not the most left-wing.

Left-wing in econ: There's too many crazed communists here for me to tell.
Right-wing in econ: Probably me, due to fanatical adherence to free economy. Hell, I make General Pinochet look like a socialist.

and, sadly, that distinction will be utterly lost on 99% of the people around here.

but thank you, the more i read about classical liberalism the more i appreciate that "liberal" not only should it not be used to describe the modern American left wing, it also should never be used as an insult :).

Most left wing: ZeppistanZeppistan isn't far left, he's a left of centre liberal.
Most right wing: me, followed by EndoscopiaEnod's more right wing then you- his "all Muslims are evil and we should nuke their countries" was a particular classic. On the more sensible right I'd say Biff Pileon's to your right as well.

Interestingly your one of the few people on this thread that hasn't deliberately gone for an ineffective debater to represent the "opposing side". (MKULTRA is not the most left wing person on here by any stretch of the imagination).

It pays to be different. I've said Zeppistan, btw, because some lefties (like MKULTRA and Letila) have no idea what they are talking about. Zeppistan does. As for me, I chose myself because I feel I'm pretty far right on here. I'm sure you find it far out into right field that all governments that aren't liberal democracies are inherently totalitarian and collectivist (as I believe). However, believe what you want. I just believe that I'm quite far right, probably farther right than most rightists on this planet.

Zeppistan isn't far left, he's a left of centre liberal.

Actually Zep and I are mostly only liberal (not left wing, there is a difference) on social issues. When it comes to economics we are most certainly no where near left wing. Probably more to the center. Hey, we make good money and we like keeping as much of it as we can too! However, we don't mind paying for programs we believe in such as healthcare, since we are going to have to pay for it one way or the other any way and at least with our system we know we help pay for healthcare and education for all even the people who can't afford it. Those are taxes we don't mind paying.

That's why I said left of centre liberal. Liberalism (in the traditional sense, not in either the American sense of using it as another word for left wing or in terms of neo-liberal economics) is quite a broad catagory, and I'd say your stance on taxes puts you on the left of liberalism. That doesn't alter the fact that liberalism is essentially a centrist doctrine, not a left wing one.

If I was more established with posts on the forum, I think people would vote me (well, hopefully, at least one person would vote me) most left wing. As far as my opinions on most left/right. In most arguments in which I've seen him involved Stephinstan has taken a thoughtful, well written position. That old maxim "The way to win an argument is to show the opposing side your understand their position better than they do." definately holds up with them. For most right wing probably Formal Dances, because I think it's sexy that every angry sentence ends in multiple exclamation points. Or perhaps Unapologetic Christians, because his threads are hilariously conservative. By "left-wing" I refer to "liberal" and "right wing" I refer to "fac..I mean...Conservative" referring, of course, to who I have percieved as having the "most" liberal/conservative social and economic overall positions.

Yes, I would agree. I mean to go far left of the political spectrum would put you in the communist category..lol being a liberal does not equal being a communist. Mind you, as we live outside of the USA we see liberal as different then the Americans seem to. I mean even what Americans consider liberal to the rest of the free world it's still pretty conservative. I mean, liberal is to communism what conservative is to fascism.. one does not equal the other.

Hmm...

I think I'm slightly left of centre, but I've seen anything from far left to centre left on those political compasses. Then again, I don't find any of them to be terribly accurate.

Left Wing: MKULTRA! How do you pronounce that?

I beleive it's pronounced "Emkay Ultra". If memory serves correctly, it was either the British Codebreaking program in WWII (after the capture of the Enigma Encoding Machine), or one of the codes they used. It's late and I haven't had enough sleep, so my recollection on the matter isn't as good as it usually is...
