Just a thought:
Is it too late for us to allow the Confederate states to re-secede from the Union?
Imagine it! A United States without Dubya, without Tom DeLay, without Newt Gingrich, without the slack-jawed Nascar Cletuses!
Sounds like paradise. ;)

If the North are truely pure Democrats and the South truely Republicans then why not split and the North can be Democrat and the South Republican.
It won't happen, but its a nice thought.
no way, I live in minnesota- I don't want to live under the democrats!

Well, you could always emigrate south to live with the crazy people.
( what?) anyway, I like my state.

Lol, but then the South would claim it is no longer bound by the non-proliferation treaty and then nuke the North

Newsflash: Dubya is from Connecticut.
Newsflash: Dubya is from Connecticut.
counternewsflash: Does Dubya sound like a Connecticut-ian? He might have been born there, but he is definitely Texan. Un Tejano.
Same way John Kerry was born in Colorado, and he is definitely a Yankee, no out-west about him.

I can assure you that Dubya does not have a Texan accent - not even a West Texan one. He over-pronounces his Rs and doesn't drop his Gs. He gets that shit-eating grin from his Yankee roots.

I live in New York, but consider myself a republican, while my great aunt who lives in Florida is a democrat.
Bush is definately Texan. If you were born in, say Britain, and then left for New York in a short amount of time, you aren't British. You likely weren't affected by Britain at all. It's that parents that affect you.

I'm a Texan ... a Son of the Republic with 8 generations of traceable Texan lineage ... I know Texans .... Dubya is no Texan.

It's not just that. Having served in the USAF for many moons, my experience is that Southern Republicans are more religious-fundamentalist, knee-jerk social conservatives, while Northern republicans more often have in mind what Ayn Rand called their "enlightened self-interest." Much easier to deal with.

I resent that. I consider myself a religious nutcase, and I live in Pennsylvania. I support neither party, and would cry if there was a stupid war between the states. The rest of the world would claim it was a hand of fate on us and that God loved the Arabs. You all need to get a life and just deal with the sucky politics we have developed. Plus, of you in the south, if you split off, you would just have the same problems between the kinda conservative and SUPER conservative branches.

Hey, I'm not talking about warfare. More like a no-fault divorce.
Here's the real question.
I read somewhere that a bunch of christian radicalists want to take some state (south carolina, maybe) for their own and seceede.
The question is...if they do this, and start committing crimes on their own people...will we attack them under the guise of WMDs?
...btw...it's a joke
