America's Air Force is defeated by Birds

Well, it may not be defeated, but we lost a 10 million dollar Jet. My dad has this friend who used to be an Air Force pilot. One day as he was flying a regular training mission over California his engine quit and he had to bail out. He ejected, and parachuted down safely, but the Jet continued down and was destroyed. The only conclusion the Air Force could come to was that since they discovered feathers and other remains in the engine, a bird had been sucked in the jet intake nozzel and shut down the engine. So, we now know that birds can defeat the US Air Force.

Bloody kamikaze pigeons.

Homeland Security ought to watch these birds carefully; some of them are obviously terrorists. If any of them act suspiciously, then tag them and put them on the no-fly watchlist.

Yep. I think were in danger. I don't know if our president has handled this situation correctly, I might just write a book and make some semi-legal 527 ad.

I guess the USAF are the only ones who ever lost planes due to birds!

It's like I always say, "Always remember that eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines."

That happens all to often, that's why they have hawks around airports, to keep birds to getting into engines near the airport. Maybe it's the reason those Russian planes crashed :D That would be one pathetic way to die, fall outta the sky crash into a ball of fire because a goose flew into your plane's engine :p

.....As we all know, the most cost effective method of shooting down planes is an old archeologist with an umbrella spooking a flock of seagulls.....

All Quaida pigeons!
Hope it was not one of those rare eagles in the US. (not talking about the one on the uniforms, they are not rare)

Are you sure that this problem only occurs with US Air Force planes? I believe that Airports all over the world employ someone to scare birds away, so that they do not do any harm to planes taking off. Also, I imagine that if a bird hits any plane in the right way, it will do some damage.

Actually, they were moved off the endangered species list a few years back.
