For some reason, when I saw this thread I thought it had something to do with Kim Jong Il doing a striptease.

I'll just have to wait for the Dictator's Gone Wild DVD to arrive then.

Anyone interested in how North Korea portrays itself to the world?

Check out the following link:

http://www.korea-dpr.com/menu2.htm

Apparently NK doesn’t have a true official website like most countries do. Probably because no one there has internet access. This website appears to have been constructed by Japanese sympathizers of the regime, with North Korean state approval. It's the nearest thing there is.

Anyway, from the link, click on “Society” and read the following for an example of what you can expect to find:

“Clothing: The traditional Korean clothing is composed by the inferior clothing, the superior and the external one, that at the same time are subdivided in different aspects depending on the sex and the age, and in the past history also depending in the profession and social class”

There’s a lot of stuff like that. Someone not well-versed in English got his Marxist dialectic mixed up I guess. It’s rather charming in a way though.

But seriously, one thing you can say in NK’s favor is that at least the corporations don’t run the country. There’s no crass commercialism there, and they are a proud, patriotic people uncorrupted by American cultural imperialism. How many countries can say that now?

thanks for posting the info...i found it very interesting. I don't know if you're one of those late night people like me... but i've been watching the Reign of Terror on the History Channel and they had a 3 or 4 hr special on N Korea and Kim Il Sung. My mother was born in N Korea, was orphaned(not the proper terminology for that-sorry) during the Korean War and moved to South Korea as a young child. So thank you again for posting the link, I found the infomation to be extremely interesting. :)

The country's people are starving, to the point that some are resorting to cannibalism, and their leader is a nut. How can that be better than a capitalist nation?
