I heard on the radio news that PETA wanted Nebraska to run commercials promoting vegetarianism. But as the radio announcer pointed out, they were more to gross you out than to promote being a vegetarian. Apparently, the commercial shows a sick cow, a pig being beaten by a cinder block, and a chicken having its beak burned off. Fortunately, all three local television stations turned down the request to show it. Did they really expect one of the biggest beef producing states to show that commercial? Besides, how did they get that footage? I have a hard time believing anyone would burn the beak off of a chicken, which means that someone from PETA would have to do it for the commercial....just a suggestion.
Anyway, I don't see how it supports being a vegetarian. It never says, "Become a vegetarian, it's really healthy (or whatever)". It just shows a bunch of animals being tortured. I can't see that commercial being effective, only gullible people would believe any of that, and it would just make everyone else hate PETA more than they already do.
