YEs - Now it's Thurlow's own crewmen calling his assertions false.

You see, there were a few Bronze Stars handed out that day.
Kerry's - which talks about the firefight.
Thurlow's - which talks about the Firefight
Lambert's - which talks about the firefight.
The other living captain who was there - that Chicago editer whose name I forget - also confirmed the firefight.
Lambert's statement also deflates the idea that Kerry fled. Fact is, Kerry was the lead boat and already ahead down the river. So of course he had to turn back to get to the group. And yes - when the bullets start flying the first thing you do is step on the gas which increased the gap.
The only argument Thurlow uses to try and throw out the official statements on the action that day is the idea that Kerry wrote the after action report - even though Kerry was not in a position to comment on what everyone else was up to because of his position ahead of the rest. But the problem is that Thurlow was senior captain there. It was Thurlows job to submit the report. If Kerry did it, it should have at least passed through Thurlow for approval before being sent. That or it was Thurlow not doing his job there rather than Kerry. Makes no sense. He also claims that he never knew that this fact was on his citation, and yet he tried to block the media from having access to it. It was only throught the Freedom of Information Act that the Post was able to get their hands on it after Thurlow refused to allow it to be released when asked. Why do you think he did that?
Lambert - I must respect. He makes no bones about the fact that he does not like Kerry or Kerry's position on the war in '71. But he is not willing to lie to try an punish him for that.
What Thurlow and the rest of these liars forgot was that when they try to smear one member of the group they threw mud on them all. By denying the events of that day were as the record said he was also calling Kerry's crew all liars, Rassmann a liar, and shitting on the medal that Lambert got.
I don't blame Lambert at all for not liking that.
And I would not have had a problem with the Vets complaining about Kerry's actions in '71 hd they done so honestly.
But the Swift Boat Vets for Unfounded Vendettas are no better than scum for trying to besmirch a veteran for something unrelated to his actual duties, and for besmirching the reputations of other veterans in the process.
In that regard, they are no better than what they think Kerry to be.
