1 Gravity tries to pull a massive object uniformly toward it's center. The sphere has all points on it's surface equidistant from the center. short answer, gravity.
2 Red, amber and green are the best colors because red and green are christmas colors and amber is made from tree sap
3 The sky is blue due to the diffraction of sunlight by suspended dust particles in the atmosphere.
4 Because calling it the octopus would cause too much confusion.
5 Yesterday is faster to type.
6 because you may start to turn grayish blue as you freeze
7 Fire is often reddish in color. so is hot metal.

I was going to karate yesterday, and was wondering on the way there:
15. Why is math the most important thing we have to learn at school?
16. Why do we have a nose?
17. Why do we need to smell?

15. Math is the base for all other fields of science.
16. Several reasons. a. The nose regulates the humidity of the air you breathe in. b. So that the air intake is somewhat protected from outside hazards like snow, rain, dust etc. c. allows for more smelling receptors
17. To identify what is good for you, e.g. if food is safe for consumption, if a sexual partner will fit you, safe places (no smell of predators)

1. Why is the world round?

the fundamental laws of gravity state that an object will attract things from all sides with equal force.

2. Why is the traffic light red, orange, green? Why not some other colors?

clearly distinguishable colours

3. Why is the sky blue?

Our atmospheric conditions only allow for that wavelength of light to make it through from the sun

6. Why does blue represent cold?

when people are cold they turn pale and sometimes blue

7. Why does red represent hot?

same as above, only red and hot

8. Why are desks rectangular?

the most efficent use of space. many desks arent round, im using a single cornered circle desk right now

9. Why arent we in space yet?

because people are too concerned with partisan issues

10. Is tomatoe a vegetable or a fruit?

fruit

12. Why did Microsoft charge the kid who made his website address www.MikeRowSoft.com?

copyright infringement i assuem

14. Why are the Sims so snoby?

microsoft

15. Why is math the most important thing we have to learn at school?

of all subjects, it is the most likely one you will need to use in day to day life

16. Why do we have a nose?

to smell with

17. Why do we need to smell?

for the evolving mamal it was more important to smell than to see even, so we may not "need" it anymore, but it probably wont go anywhere, as it is a HUGE biological advantage over not being able to smell.

18. Why do empires fall?

specific reasons for each, but mostly they become complacent and assured of their everlasting supremecy.

19. (This is religious) Why do we bow down to pray instead of facing up?

its a symbol of servitude

20. Why is music so important to the human race?

1)for some people it probably isnt
2)it has definate effect on our mood and consiousness (not most modern music though :()

21. Why are humans so greedy?

greed is an individual things, in other cultures (non capatilistic oriented) im sure its not as prevelent in our understanding of the word. Its just what people are raised on

22. Why do we have hair?

to keep us warm, we loose more heat from our heads than any other place on our body

23. Why isnt the world flat?

gravity

24. Why cant you see through the atmosphere right into space?

you can, what do you think stars are?

25. Why are we so dependent on water/air?

biological evolution. the processes in our body require sustanance

31. Why do we need money at all?

money allows for a greater personal freedom in what we do with our compensation for work

32. Why is the world 'becoming smaller'?

communication is globalizing

33. Why do humans need to talk?

we dont need to, mute people can live very successful lives. Communication again is a evolution thing, and those that can talk are once again much better off than those who cant (biologically speaking)

34. Why is there evil in the world?

because there is good. they are relative concepts

35. Why is Earth the only place where water exists visibly?

mars had water, pluto is made of ice, and a moon of saturn is suspected to be entirely liquid. We just havent found another continentially divided planet like ours yet as our technology for finding planets is horrid.

36. Why is Mars red?

iron content i think

37. Why is Microsoft the major computer corporation?

they were the first and had a much better media campaign

41. Why am I asking these questions?

you apparently have nothing better to do

i skipped out on 4,5,11,13,26,27,28,29,30,38,39 and 40

most of them had to do with roots of words and diction, which can be explained by "we have to call it something"

the yesterday/today one- simplifies speach

some i didnt know, or didnt care to try and explain (like poetry)
