Just thought I would vent. Basically about how much the Labour party at present gets on my nerves. They are full of failed lawyers and failed journalists, with the token ex union activist thrown in for good measure.
They produce knee jerk policies to ‘incidents’ that have no effect on those that transgress the law only restrict the lives of previously law abiding citizens.
They stomp about trying to control and dictate to rural Britain without any understanding of what life is like (as most of their constituencies are urban, their constituencies cover less of the kingdom than those of the opposition).
Before some one asks for examples I’ll give a few:
Banning hand guns, result 35% increase in gun crime, law abiding citizens can no longer participate in an controlled activity at a gun club.
Limiting the number of Parecetamol that can be sold rather than insisting the drug companies include the antidote in each tablet: Result, and increase in the cost of this over the counter drug, no significant decrease in the number of paracetamol related suicides.
Banning fur framing: even after it’s own advisors told them to allow it to continue in a humane way. Result: no fur farms in Britain but no reduction in the number of furs sold or animals killed for fur. But you can kill a chicken in a pretty in humane way for food, but then they aren’t cute and fur and worth a few thousand votes.
I’m not saying any of the other parties are any better, just that I loath with a passion two faces Tony and all his cronies.
So go on, what really boils your pee?

Well, I'm no fan of Tony (he wants to get rid of the pound. That would lead to me moving to England just to spit at him). But I can't really rant about anything now because I'm in a *gasp* good mood. I'll wait until others reply though, and chime in with *ARGH! HATE!* occasionally, when they mention something that enrages me...


Anyway, before I get so off topic I can't get back (...heh, yeah, 'before'...)
paracetamol related suicides.
I had no idea you could overdose on paracetamol. I'd heard you couldn't. Am I mis-informed, or is it only fatal when you mix it with other things, such as Ibuprofen+aspirin? And no, not suicidal here, just curious about random stuff like this.

No take enough and it will kill you. What is worse is that should you regret it and they pump your stomach you still might die some time later because of the damge to your liver (pretty sure it's just the liver, might do your kidneys as well)

Wow... but they don't actually limit sales of paracetamol do they? I was under the impression you could buy it over the counter. If you can, well, that's just stupid,

I know that most strong painkillers destroy your stomach lining if you take too many on an empty stomach. And if you eat and *then* take to many, you just end up throwing up a whole lot. I imagine that most overdoses would totally bugger up your liver and kidneys, since they all deal with toxins, and so would be the one's most directly affected. Maybe I should hit google and actually get some evidence if I want to talk about that though

Lesson of the day - overdosing is not for people who don't know what they're doing. Or, well, that suicide is bad, if that's what you believe I guess.

Leaving aside the bit about the pound - Big business doesn't want us to have the Euro as we could then compare prices and see how much they're ripping us off.

You can legally but Paracetamol in packs of 16 x 500mg tablets. 2 packs will turn your liver into pate as it ruptures all the cell walls and you'll die (painfully) after about 3 days if you don't get treatment. Even with treatment, you could still end up with serious liver damage. Good, eh?

Would 'even more' = 'faster death'?

Or is a matter of dying from liver failure?

Ibuprofen overdose causes coma, which would probably be a better way to go... except it's not fatal on it's own. Plus if the dosage is too low, you just end up waking up unable to feel your extremities (like when you sit funny and your feet go to sleep, only in your hands and feet at the same time).

And yes, I know all that from experience (everything after the 'coma' comment anyway). Just call me 'former-idiot' :rolleyes:
