Do people think Arkansans are racist?

Yes. People do think Arkansans are racist. The modern-day KKK capital is in Harrison, Arkansas. However, not all Arkansans are racist, so eh...yea...
psst, this is just a parody thread.

Having lived for a short time in Arkansas (about four or five years ago), I would say no, they are NOT all racist. Like anywhere else, some are, and some are not. The levelheaded people I knew there were quite disgusted at the behavior of the racists, in fact. Anyway, the moral of the story is that it all depends on the individual person.
Yeah, I know this is a parody thread, but since I've had a bit of experience there, I thought I'd speak up.

Growing up with a New England mentality I pretty much think all of the south and midwest consists of racists.

My pal, Hellpope Huey, is from Arkansas, he's not a racist, so...those must be, uhh, other people or something.

And what exactly are you doing by broadbrushing an entire region? That's only a stone's throw from the mentality of which you accuse us in the South...and really the exact same thing in my book: making blanket judgments of an entire group of people without getting to know individuals and judge them on their own merits. It doesn't matter whether it's race or place of origin you use...it's the same thing.
Have you not forgotten that these problems are nationwide? The only way to deal with it productively is to remember that--it's not just a regional problem, it is a PEOPLE problem.

I should add to this that I have lived in both the Northeast and Southeast extensively. In this time I've had the chance to see both intolerant and tolerant behavior in both places, and an incredible amount of finger-pointing. Nobody wanted to see the problems in their own backyards--but rather blame everything on the other party. That's just about THE most counterproductive thing you can possibly do--to make accusations against everybody else while letting your own area backslide.
ive lived both places, and found that southerners are generally a lot nicer, more laid back, and harder workers. northerners are more fast-paced and open-minded, and less evangelical. yes this is a broad-sweeping stereotype and there are definitely exceptions in both places.
and my grandparents live 30 minutes from harrison. i had no clue the kkk was there.

Aren't we self-rightous? Don't take everything I say to heart. I mostly like to say things just to get a rise out of people like you. Obviously it would be ridiculous to stereotype an entire region. I for one know that there are KKK sects all around the New England region.

I don't know how long you've been around NationStates (if that post count comes from NS or the rest of the Jolt forums), but you'd be surprised just how many people around here make extreme statements (both extreme right and left) and actually mean it. You gave no indication whatsoever of sarcasm, such as a wink, or words to that effect.
you missed the <sarcasm></sarcasm> tags? i saw them pretty clearly.
oh, and <sarcasm>go ahead and group republicans in with the midwest and the south.</sarcasm>

Which also happens to prove my point.
