For those of us who like simple solutions, I introduce this poll. What, in your opinion, is the cause of all the world's problems?

I think the cause of most of the world's problems is people trying to blame all the world's problems on one thing.

Militant Radicals of every religion. And commies that believe in Communitys over Individuals, because its the individual's that makes a community, never does a community make the individual. That's called indoctrination and brainwashing ect.....

We all conform to communities or change what we don't like in those communities by exploiting the positive's that would be rampant under that change.

Dumb people of any nationality, race, culture, religion are the biggest problem in the world. Expecially dumb people who get into positions of power and can influence the dumb masses

Why?

It's far easier to bitch about it; rather then try to solve it! ;)

Screw ALL the reasons...

We need to get OFF this one planet, and get spread out over the Solar System.

Lower the population density, and with enough elbow room, territorial and religious problems will disappear.

As far as world problems, you can never sum them up in one category or even a number of categories. There is no one cause or causes, and no group or groups should held responsible for it simply because a larger portion doesn't like or believe what they believe.

The greatest reasons that I can say without too much thought of why our world is not well er, in 'better' shape, are the most simple things before us.

Hate
Greed
Trickery
Killing
Cruelty
Jealousy
War
Single Mindedness
Ego's
Etc......Almost all human emotions, not an object or a group of people. Feelings or actions(as in attacks, political attacks, etc.) that can be classified as 'things that hurt the world' come from these emotions or happenings.
We cannot just pick one scapegoat or a group of scapegots and attack them. If we do, from that single attack/s, dozens of other problems come from it. Then of course someone else is angered by this attack and some of the things that sprout from it. They make their own attack and cause even more problems, then another person, and another, and so on and so forth.

Some perfect examples of scapegoated people or people that scapegoat a certain group or groups of people(I am sorry if anything I list is an insult to you in any shape, form, or way): K.K.K., Religous killings during middle ages and dark ages(roman times included as well), the Religous 'Wars' on all none Muslims, genocides in Africa, Hitler and the Holocaust of the Jewish race, countless other mass excutions and killings or deportations of people or animals over the time of human history(remember we are animals as well). There are too many to list, but you get the picture.

Did anything happen from these countless deaths? Oh sure, there have been at least three major wars in the world ever since WWII ended, but that's just the price of doing the right thing as some well 'educated' people of the world would say.
Really what good happened that all those leaders promised once there so 'hated enemy was dead or defeated? Has God or their god/s come down and blessed them, have they been given ultimate supreme power, really have scapegoats ever done any good for us? Have they gotten total victory and made the enemy thrown in the towel?

People are still persecuted and killed becuase they are different than others, we are still divided today because our ideas are not similiar. We do acts of hate and cruelty to one another just because we can't agree on things. I see it in my own home town, on tv, on the internet, in games, in books, in important political figures in the world, and I even see it in my own family and friends.

So as a conclusion, I will state I cannot and will not choose one single problem or a multitude of problems for hurting the world, because as we have already been shown and told persecuting and scapegoating really doesn't do much.

I used to be certain we'd do just that- spread out into the Solar System. And who knows, maybe we will. But perhaps we need to learn to better manage our affairs here before we go elsewhere, otherwise we run the risk of screwing up bigtime while we're off-planet.

There just aren't any fast, hard solutions to the troubles we're contending with these days. And the cause of all our problems? The root of it all? That we either elevate ourselves over our fellows, or regard our fellows as being less than we are.

If you're looking for a way to cease human suffering, you had better be prepared to get rid of humanity overall. Conflict is essential to survival, so this less-than-ideal, "problematic" existence we keep complaining about is really quite natural and organic -especially considering we're a primate species.

If you're trying to find a basic cause for some of the more specific problems, that narrows the scope a bit but it's still not an easy question to answer. Wars are waged for resources. Rape occurs as animal instinct. Racial prejudices arise from social stratification, a feature developed by isolated communities in order to increase their chances of survival. It still all goes back to simple human nature.

We're a destructive species at heart. We'd like to think we're really not, but our never-ending fascination with violence and chaos would belie this illusion. Romans had gladiators, Americans have boxing matches and demolition derbies. Western Europe has soccer hooligans. We've never made a weapon that we haven't used. Even a good portion of our most basic daily accoutrements can be traced to military roots at some point, especially in modern times(considering that computers are now the basic building block of global communication). Many of the most prominent gods of the world's various religions have been cataclysmically violent.

That's not say we're destructive simply because we want to destroy things -it is a survival tactic. It is also a regenerative one. Humans seem to have an inherent, subconscious understanding of this, though. Rain brings both life and death; fire is a catalyst for both civilization and destruction. New life cannot be made without the old life paying a price. We convince ourselves that we can somehow accommodate for everything everywhere all the time. But it's simply not true; everything we do, every single word we speak and step we take, is going to have unintended consequences -which in turn engender other unintended consequences, which in turn etc.

We're driven by emotion, and we always will be. We're animals, and rather brutish ones at that. We try to cull our instincts with feeble attempts at logic and laughable bids for objective intelligence. In some ways we succeed, but that doesn't change the fact that our true driving motivators -our morals- are based on what we feel is right, or noble, or Godly. Once we are able to eliminate that aspect of our selves entirely, we will cease to be human.

Gundam is the name of a cartoon where humanity partially migrates into space, however then a whole new series of problems crop up (namely, wars involving weapons known as Gundams)

Most of my problems are my own fault.

I'd say the cause of the worlds problems are:
poverty, ignorance and conformity.

Though I may also say those ARE the worlds problems.
