Islamic Europe Revisited

Given the demographic trends in Europe (more and more muslim immigrants with a much higher birthrate than the indigenous population) and the fact that they are for the most part not integrating, but rather trying to bring their culture and society to Europe intact, what will the non-mulsim population do to maintain a secular Europe? Will they emigrate to avoid living in a majority muslim nation?

They'd do nothing. They usually do.

Indeed. Who gives a crap if there are more Muslims than Europeans? I sure don't. So long as they leave me alone I'll leave them alone. So far, they've given me no reason to hold any ill feelings for them. I'm not sure why the Americans are always so interested in this. I don't know anybody that cares too much what colour the people around them are. And they don't force their religious beliefs on us. Nor do them make us do certain things specific to their culture. I think it's commendable they haven't just given everything they believe in up to become sheep and 'fit in'.

So what if Muslims are becoming more numerous in Europe? I have no problem with them, it's those fundies who I have my concerns about . . .

I'm not arguing that people of different color, or even different cultures should be excluded. I do, however, think that when they are in the majority the very religious among them will try to get their religious laws recognized by the governments of Europe. There _Will_ be more terrorism in Europe as the secular governments try to resist sharia law.

Indeed X2. I'm not entirely sure where non-Europeans are getting their evidence, but we're quite a long way off Muslims becoming a majority.

Still, the trend is toward more muslims and less indigenous Europeans. It may take decades, but the population seems to be shifting.

I'm under the impression that the children of the 1st generation immigrants tend to become rather secular here. And if not, would we care... given the demographic trends mentioned, we are a dying breed anyways, right?

May take a while though. Estimates of the muslim population in the recently expanded EU vary considerably owing to the lack of accurate statistics. Out of a population of 450 million, muslims are estimated at between 15 and 25 million. They better start making little muslims quick, or nobody in this board sees them taking over.

I'm just hoping somebody holds the flag of christianity up high after Europe is taken over by the evil muslims. I trust someone will. <s>

Make that centuries and you're probably onto something. It's nowhere near as bad as some people seem to think, and even if it were I'm confident that Muslim religious leaders wouldn't go about making requests they know will be denied to them -- they're smarter than that. I would hope.

No.

will we be called "terrorists" then i wonder?
i live in an area with a high moslem population and there is some integration, but would westerners be prepared to integrate into the moslem population if the boot was on the other foot?..there were suggestions that the moslems in bradford wanted to have an area of thier own, like a chinatown, which i have no problem with, just wish the moslem kids would learn a few manners, ie, less of the racial abuse towards whites round here, it will never do thier cause any good and creates hatred against themselves...

It seems to me that you are setting up a false dichtomoy here between 'Muslims' and 'indigenous Europeans' - it is possible to be both.
