I would say that the greatest football in the world is probably Real Madrid. I don't think Manchester United are in the same league.
Cyberous is right to view dislike of Arsenal as jealousy; they play attractive football and are easily the best team in England at the moment. I say this as a Leeds fan and we got throughly ripped apart last time we played Arsenal. Mind you, we got ripped apart the last time we played quite a few teams!

Surely there's a difference between greatest football team in the world and your favourite team? If you support say, Crytsal Palace , fair enough, but you don't think they're the best in the world do you? I mean, they got beat by Everton on Saturday!

Sucky sport; they can't even score properly or at all in half the matches and they have 1,5 HOURS to do it. No respect for the refs. Bunch of whiners who fall on the floor the moment they think they're touched.

Typically American reply there. Though you're right about the diving and the money.

In any case, the best team in the world is clearly Portsmouth. Clearly.

1) Can't even score propalys- How else do you score (other than in Trys)

2) It's part of the game, have you ever watched a footy game?

3) Yes diving does happen but thats just life.

In America the overrated and overpaid losers are the ones who try to play Rugby except there scared the take a tackle and have to dress up in pads.

Club team? Arsenal, of course!!!

I don't see why people say Real Madrid is the best, they keep trying to be like Arsenal. Hell, they have been trying to take Wenger and his boys Vieira, Henry, Pires, Ljunberg, etc., for years... oh, and Reyes is about to sit Raul on the bench on the Spanish team.

Milan AC, Chelsea, Juventus, and River Plate are the next.

National team? I think the strongest are Brazil (Kaka is the nexte Pele), the Czech Republic (I think Nedved is right now better than Zidane), and Greece (let's face it, they won the Euro Cup fair and square!)

I think all arsenal fans should be shot in the head at birth.

reasons

they only wear their shirts when they are winning
they moan about their team constantly, despite enjoying relative success
they can never understand why they will never be a fashionable club
all their fans are fat and balding (even the women)
they are chav scum, with no class or sense of style
they smell

these are facts and any disagreements are lies.....

You have not backed up this statement with any evidence at all!

Manchester United were already beaten 3-1 by Arsenal in a pre-season friendly who happen to have just beaten the record for most consecutive undefeated games ever in the English top division!

Manchester United have already been beaten this season by Chelsea!
When a team cannot even win games when the manager practicaly bribes all the officials I would say they are pretty pathetic really!

In fact I just looked at the table, and Manchester United are in a sorry 9th position in the table!

The English "might" have won, but if Maradona was called, the score would've been tied.

And it was so long ago! I don't think you should hold a grudge against the whole Argentina team just because of a reffing error, but instead hold a grudge against the ref himself. :)

Definately go for Ajax's, its sex on legs.

We seem to develop more reasons for disliking Argentina, such as the 98 World Cup. Think the Falkland islands are a sticking point too.

Im only exaggerating a point mate, i dont under-estimate Mourinho's abillitys. I am just perplexed as to why he leaves out Damien Duff who is without a doubt one of the best left wingers in the Premiership.

If he leaves out Duff then he has a clear reason to do it

And I seriously doubt a team can win the CL relying on only the luck factor, and to win 3-0 in the final is no easy task.

Porto achieved succes because they were consistent but also because a number of other teams under performed, look at United, had one perfectly good goal disallowed and then the keeper makes a terrible mistake late in the game.

Monaco beat Chelsea because of some terrible tactical descisions by Ranieri. I imagine that Chelsea would have provided a greather challenge to Porto in the final. Plus you have the fact that the Portugese league is less demanding than most of the other leagues in Europe and thus Porto were more able to concentrate on the larger games.

In response to the idea of players, Ronaldo has not set the premiership alight, he has had some very good games but has not shown a consistency so far which would make him stand out as something special. And the less said about Viana the better.
Tippman
09-09-2004, 19:14
What you fail to see, is the tactical genius behind Porto's success. And you only talk about the Man Utd-Porto game... what about when man utd was here?? My god they were shown how to play real football, incredibly they managed to put one in the back of the net...
Then there's the fact that the portuguese league is as demanding as the english one... why? because the player calibre here is so much different that competition exists only in a lower level. Here the real secret to victory in the coach not the players. Porto had the same team for years, it was mourinho who showed them how to play together...
Ferkus
09-09-2004, 19:19

Tippman
09-09-2004, 19:25
mourinho is not the perfect manager, no one is. he may win some games easily, he may wins some games with the luck factor. But if any1 is capable of giving chealsea the premiership, he is the one. he was critisized here for being too rough and arrogant, but he is the best and we soon realized it.
