Since there's a guitarist thread, I'd thought I'd start a vocalist thread.

So, who do you think is the best vocalists are?

I'd go for Freddy Mercury and Glenn Danzig

Plus the dark and bluesy sound of his voice is perfect for the songs he sings.

this thread is perfectly impossible

there are so many genres of great singers... classical? opera? pop? rock? unique?

and you can't even compare those.

no way to narrow it to one.

I have to agree with Avia. How do you compare James Brown to Pavorotti to Freddy Mercury? They're all great in their respective genres, but how do you choose one over the other?

Joe Williams, Dawn Upshaw (she does modern works, which makes her cool), Chet Baker (dig the harsh whisper)...brain shut down again....ah well...as with the guitar thing, we're on the same planet but different worlds....
