1) Australia, US and UK invade Iraq and free it's sportmen from the reign of terror from Uday Hussein.
2) Australia flies Iraqi soccer team to Athens 2004 olympics
3) Australia and *shock* Iraq make the quarter finals of Soccer
4) Guess who Australia plays ... Iraq and loses 1-0
Iraq to play Paraguay in semi and Argentina vs Italy in other final.

Is it not better that a good team should be given that opportunity and just the teams that aren't suppressed by evil dictators?
If I was an Australian, I would be proud to lose in such a way.
The best team won, I'd hate to think that my country won when there was a better team out there, who couldn't play because we didn't help them when we could've.

He means he is proud, though not particularly active.
Personally, as an Auzzie, I think we deserved it for helping the US occupy their country - so I'm glad we lost.
Also, if they participated in enough sports - it's not really that surprising that they beat us once is it?

Debateable (as far as my knowledge goes, except that this is U23s so I probably have no idea). But then thats the way soccer tends to go, which is why it is amusing when european teams who spend billions on players lose.

Debateable ...Particulary in Football...The best team does not always win...The lesser team can score a lucky late Goal...and change to a 9-1 strategy....9 defend...1 up...Making it very very dificult to score....Thats why we see a lot of 1-0 scores in football...
