I was thinking, because of the "Best posters on NS" thread about who remembers the olden days. In particular, who remembers, Marathon, Sheol, and Philandrea?

Well my prediction is basically coming true, in particular that no one would remember Sheol. Sheol was, in my opinion, one of the best educated and most interesting posters ever to frequent this forum, only problem was he had a habit of discussing issues which the mods were not entirely amicable towards and loved to ignore warnings and threats.

Me too. It really annoyed me when Basenji came and said he was "shutting down" the Volcano despite the fact that he didn't start it and wasn't even its "leader" if it could be said to have one. It's too bad Dania wasn't around to say "no."

It's unfortunate how people talk before getting their facts straight. Bas in fact WAS the beginner of the Volcano, and Danya had nothing to do with it. If one were to look back at the very first post in the very first Volcano, it says that it is OWNED BY BAS. But that's alright, we all get things wrong every once in a while.

And just so you all know, Danya was there on the last day of the volcano. She said her goodbyes, and I recall saying she wanted to give me something special. Although it was a while ago, so my memory may be off, but she hardly made an effort to protest me shutting down. Might have said she didn't like it. As if I cared.
And how the hell did you get the idea that Danya led the volcano? Are we still talking about the same volcano? ;)

Marathon left right around the time i joined, so i only got passing contact with him. Sheol and i never interacted that much. but Phil...i remember Phil. he and i were vicious enemies for a while, due to his abrasive style and lack of concern with concrete facts, but when he mellowed down a bit we ended up being friends. by the time he was Spherical Objects we were positively chummy.

remembering old friends is something that mature individuals often do, and sharing experiences about mutual friends is a form of bonding that often occurs within complex social relationships. i know that is difficult to understand for somebody who has no friends, maturity, or complex social relationships, but you would do better to not advertise your shortcomings.

About people on the internet? That's a complex relationship?
The limitations inherent in the medium are what grant the complexity - which is more complex: a free-form poem, or a sonnet produced within traditional constraints?
