Well this is their first olympics not under the jackboot of a dictator since... forever? I'm not sure. They're war-torn and recently invaded. There's quite a few things that make Iraq different, even if you don't want to consider it more special, than the other nations in the olympics.

It's people like you who are apathetic to changing political climate that makes the world less than what it ever could be.

The Iraqi soccer team is coming from behind and beating some of the best teams in the world, and that's all you can say... you should be ashamed of yourself.

Well, I just heard that Iraq beat Australia 1-0. They're going to the semi-finals, baby! And I think that at this stage, they are able to win a bronze medal.

So how long till they pull some kind of gold medal mireical?

Being Australian I am disappointed Australia lost (naturally) but am pleased to see the Iraqi team enjoying some success at the Olympics.

Maybe because they're embodying the whole ideals of the Olympics - i.e. of overcoming adversity (let's face it, it's not like they've been able to train much in the last couple of years) and overcoming financial hardship in order to compete and do their best at the Olympics. And they're winning. A feel-good story that's probably already in pre-production in Hollywood.
Why can't you just feel happy for them?
