Not only was I smart enough to get those, I was smart enough to figure out what I was supposed to do even though you didn't post the directions. ;)
But seriously. Would you rather people posted guesses, and risk giving away answers, or would you rather we kept it to ourselves?

This is why I'm a software engineer and not a english major. I can spell things wrong all day but as long as I spell them consistantly incorrect it will always compile and no one cares! :-)

Half the point was to figure out WHAT it was... and keep them to yourself else risk spoiling the fun for others.

Aside from the 'your/you're issue', a star is not an asteroid (and that's only the first one I have looked at).
So that this doesn't appear like I'm only posting to be pedantic: thanks for introducing me to the terms 'saltation', 'eleemosynary' and 'hebetudinous', - I was able to work out their meanings by context, but I was previously unfamiliar with them as words.

I don't think it is a matter of being smart, but just good general knowledge

No the point is to enjoy trying to figure it out.

Hey, I'm gonna be the first to admit, I'm dumb... I had to look up about half of the words in the list!
Unless it has something to do with a computer I dont know what it is.

It's too bad I don't know modern proverbs all that well...because I get caught up on the little parts like "birds of a feather do WHAT NOW together???" But I get the gist of these. Just not word-for-word.

Asteroidal is star shaped... its a stretch, but you figured it out.

That was quite enjoyable. didnt take too long either. Had to work out a few from context, and a couple stumped me for a while..
but then I'm used to reading stuff so bloody encoded in pretentious language that I might have an advantage when it comes to this.
I wouldnt say it's smartness though, just vocabulary, sprinkled with a little pattern recognition

That was more of a "show me what you can do" then a "teach me." I was rather hoping you might inspire my intellect as well as my libido.
Well I hope everyone enjoyed it.
As for those of you who thought it was a waste of time, dont worry, one day you will grow up and understand.

Item 1: I do not need to decode phrases into common phrases to know that I'm smart. I might do it if it were fun, but for me, it isn't. Therefore for me it would be a waste of time and a stupid thing to do. Please, I have cryptograms and crosswords to finish.
Item 2: I only opened this thread because I was curious as to how you were expecting to define intelligence. But instead, all you did was appeal to the competitive impulse in people. A competitive person is not necessarily an intelligent one.
Item 3: Your attitude of superciliousness leads me to believe that you harbor some sort of delusion as to your own intellect. The building block of all knowledge is to first admit that you know nothing.
