Does anyone have any ideas what's with all the extremely racist and offensive threads popping up in the last 5 days or so? Has someone posted a link to these forums on a bunch of whitepower hatesites or what?

I'm normally all for freedom of speech and open debate, but some of the stuff I've read here in the last few days has made feel almost physically ill...

Anyway, I just thought I'd just pose the question: any thoughts on why the flood of hate-threads in the last few days?

All I know is that I missed those threads, and I'm glad they're back.

Nothing brings more cheer to my day than watching nazis struggle to justify their beliefs.

On IGN's (Imagine Game Networks) free trial board, "The Vestibule", this exact phenomenon (minus racism) used to happen nearly every day. One person starts a topic about, say... does .999~ = 1. Rather than staying in the one topic, people see the topic, and make their own topic about it.

People come along and see the several topics, and chime in with their own. And so on, so on. It just seems to be a foible of certain message boards.

Heh, you obviously weren't here last year. A nazi website by way of Stormfront mentioned this place and suddenly it was swarming with white supremist nations and even neo-nazi regions. Most have long since died out. This is very light compared to how many racist/hateful threads that this forum used to have running through it.

Nazi who march in the US are always outnumbered by the anti-racist, making the Nazis look like idiots. Their published garbage is used to line pet store cages. Their music and Films coudn't draw flies if it was covered in crap. They are pathetic people looking for attention.

They're all lemmings... One goes off the cliff, the rest follow.

The "I hate Jews" or "I hate Arabs" threads get 1,000 pages because people refuse to stop feeding the trolls.

I only use them to determine who gets on my ignore list.

Incidently, those who openly admit to being Muslims, Jews, or Pagans end up on my buddy lists. :D

Ironically, I seem to recall hearing lemmings don't actually go on mass suicide runs as people commonly think. That's not to say no lemming ever went head first off a cliff, but it's not how people perceive it.

It seems to be just two posters - 'Decisive Action' and 'Tenete Traditiones'/'Jemell'/'Tenete Traditiones II' - that are causing most of the rumpus. 'Austrealite' and 'VoteEarly' (possibly a puppet of Decisive Action) have also chimmed in on occasion. There is a lot of fuss going on about it now because we have been generally free of this kind of thing for the past few months, but it'll probably die down once the novelty wears off for everybody on both sides.

Some of the older, more respectable racists and separatists have also stuck their heads in again.

Their published garbage is used to line pet store cages.

Heh..not a bad idea. I've mentioned the fact here and there that I'm Pagan (or at least, I'm fairly certain I have), it's just that its relevance doesn't come up often,imo. I'd prefer to be involved in INTELLIGENT debates, rather than flame wars, so I avoid even posting in them. That,and as much as I love to mock people who have incredibly narrow view points, I just dun have the time to get them all..*sighs*if only there were more hours in the day.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, the spate of anti-Semitism seems to be flowing thick and fast...but I guess when you step back and look at it, it's really a pretty small core of posters, half of whom are probably pseudonyms for the same individuals...

They migrate in large swarms, reach a cliff, and the leaders get pushed off by the ones at the back that keep pushing forward instead of stopping... similar to what happened when they put up those giant wire fences to keep crowds from running onto soccor fields - the people at the front ended up getting crushed because the people at the back just kept pushing forward

There are respectable racists? Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

1. An oxymoron is something that is only apparently contradictory.

2. Note the us of the word 'more' prior to the word 'respectable': thus a scale of respectability is suggested. some of the racists have extremely objectionable views ("We should kill all the non-whites" end of the sacle), while some have much less objectionable views ("Personally, I don't particularly like racial group X, and so I avoid them" end of the scale).

3. The manner in which these people conduct themselves in discussion also determines how much I can respect them, even if I disagree entirley with their viewpoint. A compulsive cut-and-paste gains little of my respect, while a reasoned debator gains more of it.

This is not a roleplay issue. This is a real-life issue here. These people aren't just playing at being White Nationalists like the way people in International Incidents play at being nuclear armed spacefarer: they believe in what they are saying.

99.9% of the White Nationalists posting here won't give a damn about the UN or having war declared on them: they are here because they want to talk. Possibly the want to make converts, possibly they want to threaten people, possibly they want to contact other likeminded individuals, possibly they just have masochistic steaks and enjoy having every statement they make challenged - but they believe what they are saying nonetheless.

Yes, there are other nations that juts play at being Nazis, and yes, there are some Nazi themed regions in the game, and if you want to mess with them, knock yourself out, but don't forget that some of these people really do believe that the white race is inherently superior to all other races.

There is almost no racism here at the moment... it was a lot "worse" back before there were mods, or even 6 months ago...

i personally think it is/can be fun to argue with them... it is more entertaining when they believe it :-)

But then it is fun to bait almost any group which you oppose views with - be it evolution vs creationism, pro israel vs pro palestine and others like that (i couldnt think of the counter to antisemetism as a topic thread :-) )

I've always found nazis funny, and here I've got plenty of them.
It's nice of them to show up here for me.
Besides, I find it a lot more enjoyable to argue with people over my religion than over my nationality, so be it!
