Becoming too strict on video gaming?
Anyone else noticing all the laws trying to censor, ban, etc. video games? Especially those that are rated "M"?

I love gaming I do it througout the week as often as I can and yes many attacks are being made but many are failing if not most or even all so far such as one in washington state recently to ban games with cop killing don't get me wrong I am no endorser or supporter or even gamer of grand theft auto and such games but I do like some violent games or even a little hentai game now and then so they can piss off! Bad enough lieberman setup the damn esrb 10 yrs back
yes. I mean, violence exists, and is very natural. Sex exists, and is very natural. Kids should know about them at any age.
I hate the Fascist Censorer Club.

There isn't enough blood and gore in games these days.
It's simple.
There's this thing called a "rating"
At a certain rating, people are not allowed to purchase the game without identification showing that they are blank and blank years old.
So they have their parents do it for them.
Question: where the fuck are the parents' brains?!

Fortunately, most of the laws being intruduced to ban violent games aren't passing. There's some organization devoted to protecting the rights of gamers shutting them down. I should know the name of it considering I wrote a paper on it once but I just got back from travelling. Anywho, venting anger in violent games is much more preferable to shooting someone in RL. No, games with shooting does not teach you how to use a real weapon. I've proven this to myself many times over. That wasn't a rebuke of anyone's statement, just a word for any future arguments.

Phisical exercise is a better way to vent anger. Thay Boxing for example. But video games with lot's of violence is just entertainment.

Yes, it's very entertaining. That's why I'm an overweight blob. Well not quite a blob but if I keep this up, I will be a blob. Must start excersizing. But it's so wonderful...

Uh NO! My kids shouldn't know about sex and violence until I want them to know about them.
However, it is MY job as a parent to censor what my children watch, see, do, not the government's. If I don't want my children to play GTA or listen to rap music or watch morally dubious television, I don't have to let them. End of story. But that doesn't mean that the government should ban games. The banning of games, books, movies, whatever is done for the benefit of lazy parents and people who want to run other people's lives. Censorship is a crutch for lazy, unimaginative people.

Thank you West Donovania. As an 18 year old gamer, I have a right to enjoy violent games. I actually enjoy more reallistic games whether they're fps's or strategy games. It's a testament to the skills of the designer when a game looks more reallistic. I, myself, do not like real violence. Wow, now that's a surprise. hehe. I'm an avid shooter with rifles, pistols, etc but never go hunting. I don't even like killing bugs for that matter. It's the parent's job to keep their children from seeing what they don't want them to see. My parents were friggin overprotective when I was younger and I hated it but maybe it's made me a better person. Who knows. All I know is that the government has no right censoring anything and that games need to be even better in the future.
but you may not drink.

Exactly. I am a 34 year old gamer, and I like a good shoot'em up game as much as the next person. Personally I think they are terrific stress relief. But I'm not going to let my 4 and 6 year olds play them (or watch me play them). I also like watching R rated movies and having a drink occasionally, I'm not going to let them do that either LOL But the main point is that the government doesn't have the right to tell me, or any other adult in the country, that I can't play a video game if I want to. And my question is, where does the censorship stop?

As long as the FCC stands and a politician is left alive, it won't stop. No, this isn't an anarchist idea, it's just the truth. There will always be people who want to censor everything. It's up to the people who don't agree with them to keep them from doing it.
