Should an old Olympic tradition return?

In the ancient, original Olympics, athletes trained and performed entirely in the nude, wearing only olive oil. And why not? The ancient Greeks appreciated the natural human form as have none since, and athletes were the peak of human physical perfection. Should we return to that practice? There's nothing wrong or dirty about the body, and think of the ratings!

It seems that the Olympics have become just another sports event, at least to Americans. Shouldn't something, perhaps something drastic, be done about that kind of jaded sentiment?

Seeing most of these athletes in the nude is entirely unappealing, like the human body all you want, but when in motion it can produce some.... unnerving images. I really don't see any reason having athletes in the nude would make it any better than it already is, probably worse.

I like your idea as long as Anna Kournikova is allowed to compete on the US tennis team. All day.

I agree. Lots of nice, naked men, definitely make the Olympics more appealing to all gay men :)

Fencing is an olympic sport, isnt it? That might be a bit...painful. And women have to wear chest protectors....I see major bruising by the end of the games.

Lol, some of the gymnists at my high school are very pretty too (to say the least).

And, actually didn't some French athelete(s) (after winning some event) go streaking at one Olympic?

wow.

there is nothing more beautiful than the human body pressing its limits. there is nothing sexual about nudity and only those who are too uptight about themselves take issue with it. i think the athletes should be given the choice to compete nude. sure, why not. but then dumbasses would only be looking at tits... but then they do that anyways. *sigh*

Nekkid girls on the pummel horse... it boggles the mind. And it would definitely change the straddle routine of the presentation.

Yeah, nude girls slathered in olive oil, wrestling. I like that idea too.

Are you insane!? Athletes right now - Dream Team aside (don't get me started on that...) - play for the love of the game. Do we want future athletes playing because of the promiscuousness rampant?

They should all compete Stark Raving Naked.

If nations don't approve, let them stay home. Some nations boycott or sit out of events for dumber reasons.

Did you hear about the Iranian judo athlete that refused to face the israeli athlete? They didn't make him forfeit. They declared it a draw.

I don't understand that. One would think that if he hated Israel, that he'd be looking forward to whooping some Isreali butt!

Personally, I think it's an insult to the olympics to refuse to compete!

Sounds all right to me. And you're right, there is nothing inherantly bad or dirty about the human body. It's merely our attitudes to it.

Not sure the corporate sponsors would be too happy about it though.

Also, it would probably make the equestrian very uncomfortable.

Yeah, they should bring it back. The olive oil would prevent all chafing.
