How do yall feel about nudists?? Any sites showing nudist colonies? Are you in a nudist colony?

I think nudity is great and natural and people offended by it are brainwashed into believing its wrong.

Nudity on it's own only causes sexual arousal in people who have been told all their life that it is taboo.

I don't have any particular urge to see old, grossly overweight, or just ugly (no personal offence intended to anyone) people walking, jogging, swimming, eating a hamburger, shopping, dancing, etc... naked. So I'm not a huge fan of nudism.

When I am in close proximity to nudists I generally try not to 'feel about'.

It's nobody's business if they keep it confined to their own clubs or homes. I wouldn't like to see nudists walking around on the street though, unless they are attractive women.

I just don't understand how some people could involve their kids in it. There have to be some perverts who go to "family" nudist camps just to get a peek at kids. It seems very risky to me.

Nudity is fine when done privately or with a group of consenting people. But someone walking around naked in the streets is rather sickening sonetimes.

Nudists, as in the kinds of people who parade how 'liberated' they are, eat tofu, go to nudist camps and don't teach their kids how to use clothing, disgust me. Ooh, ahh, you're liberated, you have thrown off the shackles of the dominant male-oriented fascist clothing oppression. Good for you. Now put on some damn clothes before the wet spots you leave behind on the bus seat grow to puddles.

To the second poster, depends on what you mean by brainwash. If you mean our societal norms state that public nudity is a bad thing, and we agree with that means we are brainwashed, then sure. However, I happen to like that norm in our society, and if you don't, go create your own country with a bunch of other nudists on an island somewhere... we won't stop you.

Imo everyone who feels comfortable walking around naked, can do so. Its natural, animals dont wear clothes and the need for clothes is not always there. During winter maybe when its too cold, but in the summer its generally warm enough. Maybe if people living in industrialized nations need to see their naked neighbor every day, who is "grossly overweighed", will finally notice how bad it is to eat at Mc Donalds.

You can't urinate or defecate in public, even if it was in to a plastic bag or something. You can't masturbate in public either. They are all natural, but they are also personal. You can do a lot of things in the comfort of your own home, but not in public. Being nude is just one of them.

Total nudity can be very unsanitary (depending on how clean someone is), so I can see a practical reason to keep everyone from being nude everywhere. However, I think anyone that wants to should be able to go topless. Nobody is harmed (except maybe some guy gets excited or something) if I decide I feel like cooling off by walking around topless.

Living near a "Clothing Optional" beach has taught me that 95% of the world should opt to keep their damn clothes on!

As for the other 5%, the chances that one of them will actually get nekkid when you're around to see them is akin to winning the lottery.

Touche. However, I was only referring to North American laws, and my general understanding of them; many parts of the world hold vastly different laws, and I can't really be aware of (nor remember) all of them unfortunately.

I'm definitely going to London when I'm pregnant so I can try that one out. =) Ok, not really.

There is also some regulation which allows London Taxi drivers to urinate in public if they are touching their vehicle with one hand as they do so, I believe, but I don't seem to be able to find referenc to this right now.

That's just an ignorant comment. My parents used to take me to nudist 'camps' when I was little and not ONCE did anyone try anything 'perverted'.

Being nude isn't about looking at someone else's body, it's about being free from the constraints clothing offers. It's hard to understand the feeling of freedom unless you've tried it.

I've taken many friends to a nude beach that I like to go to. I prefer to go to this beach for two main reasons:

- I can sun and swim nude
- in general, the people who go to these beaches are extremely considerate (pack out trash, leave no trace, etc)

All of the friends I've taken initally didn't want to take off thier clothes, but as the day wore on they ended up naked. Every single one of them had new found respect for nude beaches and the feeling of freedom it brings. They used to tease me about it before. ;)

ya... you are taking a little too far. I know if I was going to walk around nude, I'd wear shoes in the public restroom to avoid someone's bad aim.

regarding public urination/defecation - I thought I read somewhere that this is common in japan. Anyone else ever hear of this? I personally dont care if people do this either as long as they are sanitary about it.

I think they do a lot of good but reducing the profitability of cloth corporations and thus sweatshops. I can't say I feel the urge to be naked myself, but I certainly don't have a problem with those that do.

I don't laugh out loud at anything I read on the internet very often, but that was just hilarious. My favourite parts were the blatant personal attack (be glad for the lenient moderators on NationStates, on most large boards you'd have been banned for that), and the assumption that I want a subsection of society dead based on one (count them, one) message board post, which doesn't make any mention of dislike of - or grudge with - the aforementioned people in general, forget any will for them to die. :rolleyes:

I think the human body is a thing of great beauty, and not at all a nasty thing. I also understand how being free of constraint of clothes can be appealing in warm weather. But I don't know, I don't think I could get myself to try it(in public, of course.It goes without saying I get naked when I'm alone every once in a while). Too much of society brainwashing me that I must wear clothes in public or face humiliation and prosecution, I guess. I can't think of any reason to stop nudists from indulging themselves in private beaches/camps/whatnots though. Which is why I legalize it in my nation every time the issue pops up.

Sorry to bring up an old topic but I saw in on the list and felt it is important to post. I believe there are many benifits to being naked both pysical and mental.(I am normally very private about my opinions to do with this but no one knows who I am here anyway) I am naked whenever I am home-alone. In fact I am naked right now. I think that it is good to just let your skin breath. When I am old enough I am going to visit a nudist colony. I think that nudists probalbly have much better self-esteme and many other benifits. The only thing that worrys me about it if I see a pretty naked girl and then get an erection.

I'm hardly an expert on the subject, (not a nudist in the least) but I doubt thats true. The US has alot of nude beaches. They are probably all private beaches, not public, but nonetheless they exist.

Thats a very unfair thing to say. If attractive people can enjoy being nude than why cant ugly people. Sure its digusting but if you think about it it is also disgusting to see ugly people with clothes on too and it is always nice to see a pretty girl even though she is clothed. Really if you think about it there is not to much of a difference with nude and clothed only it is much more fun to be nude.

I've been to Okinawa a few times and no you can get arrested for indecent exposure if you do decide to unleash and just go.

Nudity is like spandex. . . It really should be more of a privledge than a right..
Especially in a country where the citizens overindulge in pre-processed food.
I don't really care if people want to be nude or not- only that I have a hard time seeing obese people in only flesh. It makes me want to weep for the sad state of the body that can be so beautiful.

I have nothing against nakedness, but others don't feel comfortable around naked people, so I don't do it when others are around.

Funny how many of you consider one should be "beautiful" to be seen naked. I am not practicing nudism myself, but I think that's also what it's all about: why should there be a dictatorship of what society considers beauty? So, the so-called beautiful would have more rights than the so-called ugly (both being social construts anyhow)? And do your goodness extend to admit that ugly /fat / disabled / old people may have sex also, or are they not allowed to breed? May they go out on the streets, or are the streets reserved to the rich and beautiful, not to offend your eyes? Hey, do they have a right to live anyhow? (for the Yanks out there, you don't have to answer, I have an idea of what you'd say)

I live in Berkeley, CA, and up until a few years ago when you went out about town you had a fairly good chance of running into some naked people. Not so much anymore, except for at certain public events.

When I was little my family went to a lot of nude beaches, which prevented me from developing the societal aversion to public nekkidity. Still haven't. But where o where have all the naked people gone?

The way I see it is if your naked all the time you wouldnt get cold. Unless its freezing but even then people could just wear a thick blanket when outside and take it off when going indoors.
