Well, i enjoyed the Hobbit more than Riverdance...and i think lots of boys on an island killing a fat boy is not so enjoyable as Gandolf with a long white beard-

C'mon, have you *read* Lord of the Flies? Or seen the original movie in all its black-and-white glory? Riverdance my *ss. Roger beats Sauron as scary villain any day, let alone The Beast.

The original movie was the best.

Yeah, well, unforunately we live in a world where people would rather watch clips of idiots driving cars like maniacs into berks, than a read a good book. or a man in tights jumping about very...errr...good...ly....errr....yeah.

I've read Lord of the Flies inside out and written essays on it. I'd be glad if I never heard of it again. :)

good point. I think that the Lord of the Dance should win through in the end though. He has feet like lightning

Yeah, and it irritated the heck out of me. Bunch of little kids running around an island, improbably surviving...

LotR owns all.

ok lets develop the argument a little:

which is the best:

1. There
2. Their
or
3. They're

discuss.

i think the possessive their has real resonance plus it is a bugger to spell and so lends a certain elitist feeling to those who can spell it correctly

fair point.

I also think maybe they're has knocked itself back by actually being two words, perhaps forcing immediate disqualification. Or does this just make the word better?

I personally prefer 'there' because it is more geographically orientated in its existance.

There are mountainous regions.
Look over there, some beef-based bovine mammals!

I say lord of the dance. They're sort of fruty, but that irish music kicks *ss

Hmm ... I vote for "they're." The pronunciation of "their" is impossible to guess by seeing it, and the spelling is impossible to huess by hearing it. "There" is just too generic. It's like the sickly middle child of the English family.
