The Sounds Of Hell.

I'm an atheist but I find it very hard to try and rationalise this recording. A physical version of hell in the center of the earth is absurd just as a physical version of heaven in the sky is however what the hell is that sound. I can definitely hear human both male and female screams. I'm not geologist but wind, heat and rocks do not make audible human screams. More disturbingly this was recorded in the USSR. What possible reason would the Soviet government have of faking sounds of hell. The fraud would threaten their own atheistic policies.

Just give me your thoughts and maybe someone more rational then I can explain this to me.

That's a bunch of B.S. that's what it is. I'm Christian but I have a hard time believing THAT. :rolleyes:

It's surprising how eager so many people are to believe this kind of nonsense. Some people will believe anything, if it fits their world view, or if they just happen to like the idea of it.

I don't know...I'm a Christian and I have my doubts about this recording.

For one thing, given that I believe in an omniscient designer of the universe...I think He would be much smarter than to put Hell in a physical place where we human beings could stumble right into it. I'm sure He's got much better, much more secure locations (heck, some could be dimensions we can't access, for all I know) to put things we shouldn't get into, than the center of the Earth. We have enough trouble here on Earth without people digging into Hell. ;)

Furthermore, even though I'm not Anglican, I tend to agree with the Anglican position that Hell is eternal nonexistence. I could easily be wrong about that, but to me that makes me have doubts about a recording that suggests eternal torment (and thus eternal existence).

Like I said, I could be wrong, but I have to think that either this is a hoax or a natural phenomenon was mistaken for human screams. I'd have to see some really, REALLY reputable analysis on this thing (the original source tape itself, no copies please) before I would admit the possibility.

Of course, if there is a big hole down to hell somewhere, then I've suddenly thought of a great use for it!

I only heard one male and one female "screaming". Besides, who ever said that hell was in the center of the Earth or underground?

I've heard that before. You know what? Hold a magnet to a microphone and hear it "scream".

Now, do the same thing by drilling a hole down to the mohorivic discontinuity, put a microphone down there and listen to it surrounded by molten rock, etc....

Duh.

Duh.

Let's go even further, the temperature is claimed to be 2,000 degrees fahrenheit, nevermind that we've never drilled anywhere that hot, exactly what microphone would survive and work at that temperature. Various depths are given for where the drill goes through, and most of them are far deeper than we are even able to drill.

I don't think one needs to drill below Siberia to discover Hell and hear the wails of the tormented and depressed. :x

Now, personally whenever I hear/read these stories, I always do the following:

1. Where does the story originate from? The further away the country is, the more sceptical I am, as it prevents me from following it up (ad you can't get much further away than Siberia);

2. When did this event occur? If it doesn't have a date as to the occurrence, then a little warning light starts flashing in my head (not literally of course). This further prevents me from hunting down the original source;

3. The use of obscure media as further support or as the source ("well respected Finland newspaper, Ammenusastia"????), how many ppl out there subscribe to that publication? Also note the use of 'well respected', giving it further superficial credibility without explaining why it's well-respected;

4. Using a person's name (Dr. Azzacove in this case) to give the story a realistic feel. Also giving the person a title (Prof/Dr etc) helps make it seem more real and more serious. Notice that it wasn't said how he was connected to this drilling;

5. Usually the event occurred during a scientific study, which is meant to lend it further gravitas;

It's a well-written piece that seems valid first reading but once you question it it falls apart. I mean let's face it, if this did occur it would have been HUGE news. Christians all over the world would be flocking to Siberia to drill.
It was nothing more than an Urban Legend. You have no way of finding out if it was true, as there's no date, no source, no local as to where it occurred (look on the map: Siberia's a BIG place).
Out of interst I googled 'Ammenusastia', and got 201 returns, all of which (including other languages) report exactly the same article of Hell being found in Siberia. I can't find a Finnish newspaper called 'Ammenusastia' - and if it was so well-respected, surely it'd have it's own web-site, or at least mentions to it from other newspapers.
Still, it's a creepy recording. Would make a cool background to a music piece (or Horror movie). I certainly won't be listening to it just before going to bed!

It sounds like a theme park being recorded, with somthing else being played backwards. Over and over again

If that's hell, it might not be too bad, but by the sounds of it, it could get boring.

That "scientists in Siberia drilled into Hell" story has long ago been debunked,
by Christianity Today among others. (CT is the leading magazine of conservative evangelical Protestants.)

As a Roman Catholic I do believe in eternal punishment for those who consciously and delbieratley reject God's way. I also beleive that there will be very few souls in Hell, because not that many humans are that deliberately evil. Perhaps there will be no one there except Satan and the fallen angels.

I've had this discussion on another board and I can't help wanting to add a light note:

Some of the members of a small fundamentalist church started a choir, and practiced and practiced until they were ready to do some really good singing.
They chose a Sunday evening to give a concert for the community, but as it happened the preacher was going to give his fire-and-brimstone "get saved or else" sermon that Sunday.
That week the sign in front of the church read:

SUNDAY MESSAGE
WHAT WILL HELL BE LIKE?
COME LISTEN TO OUR CHOIR!

Oh man

You get me all frightened about "millions of people screaming" and I listen to it. I hear two voices, dubbed over dozens of times. It's the same ladies scream, it's the same guy blubbering or whatever the heck.

I'm a Christian, and a hard core one at that, but that was such a miserable fake. Now I have to get all the realplayer junk off of my computer.

THANKS SO VERY MUCH YOU RELIGIOUS CONSPIRATOR!
