ok, I'm sat eating my lunch, so I'm thinking about food...
randomly curious what the weirdest things people have eaten?

my best friend once ate a pancake with brown sauce, branston pickle, jam, chocolate sauce and prob a few other things I cant remember now...

I'm also aware of an oriental delicacy...eating half formed chicken(?) ebryoes...personally I find that a rather sickening idea...

Well me and my friend were once bored so we got some slices of cheese in a bowl, poured over some blackcurrant drink and then microwaved it. It looked so disgusting I couldn't eat it, but he said it tasted horrible.

I like pigeon...particularly wood pigeon, taste better

Errrr lets see, well my uncle is a taxedermist and poacher, when I went to his house for bonfire night (November 5th for all those non Brits) I had peasant, pigeon and veal...also tried a rather nice squirrel stew...seriously (grey squirrel of corse).
Other things I've eaten, octopus, antelope in jerky form, tuna and mushy pea sandwiches with brown sauce are my delicacy at the min, oh and I once ate a bus ticket...don't ask me why

If you order "flake" in a fish and chip shop (at least over here) it's shark. The cheapest kind of fish and chips.

Uhh. Just out of curiousity, does america have fish and chip shops and what do you call them?

17-08-2004, 13:49
I tend to eat random fruit I find on trees on vacation and stuff. Yep yep, and I've only gone to the emergency room once, so that's pretty good. Also, octopus, caribu, ostritch, rattlesnake (really disgusting, don't eat it EVER), alligator, and once I mixed chocolate milk and orange juice, bout fifty fifty. It's not bad actually, you've just gotta brush your teeth afterwards.

No, peasant is not only a delicacy it is also the solution to world hunger, the poor can eat themselves, so they'll be less poor and those that escape the cull are nice and fed....

ofcorse I meant pheasant,

Uhh. Just out of curiousity, does america have fish and chip shops and what do you call them?

Um, I can't speak for all of America, but here in the midwest we do not have fish and chip shops. I mean, there will probably be places you can get fish and chips sometimes, but it will never be what the place specializes in.

I went to London and into I think three different fish and chip places, and I didn't like any of them. And I kinda got trapped into ordering only fish and chips because I didn't know what the heck anything else on the menu was. Like bubbley and squeak? What the heck is that? When I think squeak, I think of my guinea pig, and I certainly don't want to eat that. There were also other various names that didn't have to do with the food, kinda odd...

Although, there was a very nice oriental place in London, you know, gotta give credit where credit is due.

Uhh. Bubbly and Squeak i've heard of before but I couldn't tell you what it is as i'm an Aussie, not British :)

Over here, basically they have seafood, hamburgers, dim sims....etc...good greasy cholesterol packed food for a lunch break.

I assume you have dim sims over there? (asian meaty pastry things)

Bubble and squeak is... well it's difficult to explain.
Basically, it's yorkshire Pudding with sausages baked into it. If you don't know what Yorkshire Pudding is, you've never lived. It's great with liver and onions.

Strangest think I've ever eaten... rabbit pie was pretty good, moose burgers, caribou burgers. Shark is good grilled. Vimto milkshakes «-- DON'T EVER DO THIS!!!

This is vimto (http://www.vimto.com/history/nutrition.asp) and I'm sure you can figure out how to make a 'shake from it (it's a cordial type thing)
Kanabia
17-08-2004, 14:22
hah, that vimto and milk, no thanks.

That reminds me though. A couple of years ago I made a friend drink a mixture of beer, bourbon whiskey, milk, salt and chilli sauce from a blender (yes, a whole blender full, and he downed it in one gulp...). I didn't taste it, but put it this way, his vomit didn't look or smell very nice afterwards.

I don't usually go in for weird food. I like mushrooms and sushi, which a lot of people don't.

I think the weirdest thing I've probably consumed is mixing all the drinks at the soda fountain in one cup.

Thats toad in the hole, man. Bubble and squeak is a combination of leftover vegetables and junk. Not very nice.

However, peanut butter, wafer thin turkey and honey sandwiches sure do hit the spot if youre in the right "state of mind"
