Who do you think is the most over-rated band?
At the moment, I would plump for 'The White Stripes'. Whooo, a two-pice noise-band. Haven't heard of that before. But wait, they might be cousins, brother/sister, boyfriend/girlfriend, wife/husband all the above! How cool. Wow that's so alternative
Most over-rated band in history, I'd go for 'Velvet Underground'. Now don't get me wrong - I like their music, it was hardly original and they weren't amazingly talented. Yet every single alternative band since (including 'White Stripes') have to say about how amazing they were and what a great influence they were on them. Even going so far as to say "not many
people bought their album, but that everybody who did started a band" (Brian Eno I think). How over-rated and pretentious can you get?
