Career Totals games 1332; AB; 4981 Runs 873 HIts 1772 ; 2b 307; 3B 168 ; HR 54(only Ruth was hitting them at the time); RBI785 ; Total bases 2577; BB 519; SO 158; SB 202; --- OBP.413 ; SLG.517; AVG.356 (3rd highest in MLB history)

I say yes, he took the money in 1919, but did NOT throw the games, he was series MVP with the only HR, highest average, and with no errors

How many years did he play? Because by todays standards those are nothing Ty Cobb> Shoeless Joe Jackson The average is pretty impressive though. But Pete Rose should be allowed in as well.

He only played 12 years, but he wasn't even half done with his career. He was banned in his prime so he could never put up the amazing hit numbers, but his batting average speaks for itself and gives you an idea of how many hits he would have. He would easily be a member of the 3,000 hit club, and yes Pete Rose belongs to.

Sure Jackson didn't throw the game but he still took the money. He broke the rules and will never be allowed in, just like Rose. Also todays "juiced" up players shouldn't be allowed in either. These drugs should be totally banned from sports. In baseball they inflate players stats. For example look at Bonds today and 10 years ago. Doesn't Bonds look huge compared to back then?

If all the steroid users get in like SamME "Cork" Sosa (you can tell I'm a Flub hater and White Sox fan) then Shoeless should get it. At least The Big Hurt doesn't use steroids, he's just huge because his main sport in college was actually football

With 8 guys throwing a game I could double every at bat and still be content in knowing that I'll likely never get home, or if I do my runs won't count for anything. If Jackson was really THAT concerned with "the right thing" he wouldn't have played in a dirty series. I'm sorry, that tarnishes my image of the man and any player that accepts money and is conscious of the gambling is just as bad as one who throws the game in my book.

there, all better, now go and watch "field of dreams" or read any of the hundreds of books dedicated to this, the best ball player of all time - well at least in my opinion.

Ah, yes. Well, you know, in a country where lying is usual, cheating is the norm, and sportsmanship is out the bloody window, I can understand why people want Shoeless Joe Jackson and Pete Rose in the hall of fame.

Why don't we just build robots that can pitch at 200mph, run 300mph, and self destruct at the end of the game by bludgeoning each other into scrap metal. That should be entertaining.

Shoeless Joe Jackson was banned for life.
Shoeless Joe Jackson is dead.
Therefore I would suppose that logically the ban is over. :p

Pete Rose was banned for life.
Pete Rose is not dead yet.
Pete Rose needs to wait a few more years.

Shoeless Joe Jackson is in a far better place than Cooperstown.
