IE = Crap.

well, duh, but if they released it to just work on firefox or whatever, most users would be in the dark.

Well, yes, but that's not the whole definition. PC generally refers to an IBM system, and is a separate classification to Mac.

Although, I suspect you knew that anyway, and are just being deliberately obtuse.

It wouldn't be unlike me. Heck, I'm not even running a Mac, I'm still using Win98 for my sins.

You're not the only one. I intend to continue using Win98 until they bring out something better than XP, which is one of the worst operating systems ever written.

No, ME was the worst operating system ever written by windows. XP isn't half bad.

BS. XP is faster than 98 is alot more stable. More compatible and can fully take advantage of new machines!
Red Hate does that too but hey it can't run games!
Ah The wonders of a dual boot system!

If it stops at 40%, you need to wait a bit untilit is done loading the plugin from Futuremark. The security query will come after 1-4 minutes, depending on your download speed.

Blurring the distinction between GUIs and OSs for the moment I beg to differ: have you ever had the 'pleasure' of using Windows 1.00 or Windows 2.03?

No, only 3.1

They are worth investigating if you have an old machine lying around and a masochist streak running through you. I still have something of a soft spot for 3.11 - maybe computers were just new to me then and so I was more easily impressed, but it was a fairly stable platform and the dreaded MS bloat had not completely set in by then. Of course it was still very much just DOS with a graphic overlay and some memory management tricks, but it remains usable to this day - especially when you replace the default shell with something a bit more thought out like Calmira II.

The sheer instability of XP (or XPoo, as I like to call it) is the reason I stick with 98 in the first place. It crashes constantly, for utterly inane reasons.
