Let me tell you a story about this annoying-as-h3ll Japanaphile I had to sit with on the bus ride up to my bike trip.

So I'm sitting on the bus and it's time to pick up more people. At one point, we pick up (among many people) this one girl (she's NOT Japanese) who's wearing this shirt w/an anime panda and (I think) the word 'Pucca!' on it. Then begins a conversation between the whole bus:

Random Person: "So where have you all traveled to?"
*fast forwards to Japanaphile*
Japanaphile: " . . . Yet I've always wanted to go to JAPAN!!!"
Me (just for sake of not being rude): "Japan, huh? I have a good friend who went to visit his family there"
Japanaphile: *gasp* "He's got family there? OMG THAT HAZ GOT 2 B T3H K00l3st THING EVAH!!!!!1111"

Just FYI, I don't know about the states, since I have been in Japan since this apparantly jumped the Pacific, but cosplay is generally though of as a sexual perversion almost on the same level as furries here in Japan.

I was wondering about that myself actually, but decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Ok, I'll be tasteful. These two ladies (http://images.cosplay.com/photo.php?photo=9449&exhibition=43&u=45-74) are two of the most stunning women I have ever laid my eyes upon - to the point that I actually cruised around the internet to find out more about them (http://www.firefly-path.com/cosplay.php) and would currently be attempting to come up with an excuse to talk to them, if I were not happily settled with my girlfriend of over 2 years. I will settle instead for commissioning them to create a cute faerie outfit for my sweetheart, as I really do like the outfits.

There, that's not thinking of them as objects - It's as people. People to be desired yes, but it is not my fault that I have glands.

Ok, the twins have restored my faith in cosplayers. I was slightly scared about this phenomenon but the people who do it well, have erased the earlier photos in this thread.

However, the photo of the young girl disturbs me slightly. Maybe I should be immune to it using the Net so much, but its... kinda wrong. She doesn't even look old enough to buy the things shes wearing.
