Wich sport should be Olympic?

Mr Basil Fawlty

Do you think that underwater table tennis should be Olympic? Do you too find that cycling, football (soccer), tennis, softball (ridiculous) and some other allready en mass available on other championships should be banned?

What about rugby and karate? Why aren't they in?

Bridge (iirc there was a move to make a Winter Olympic event)
How is bridge a sport? And for a sport to be in the winter olympics, it has to be played on snow or ice.

Don't ask me, I couldn't give a monkey's uncle.

You can play Bridge in snow or on ice. I wouldn't put anything past Bridge players.

OMG I was just going to suggest dwarf throwing and its the first poll option :D

I also think Cricket. A guaranteed gold for Australia, that's why.

Here in the EU a dwarf attacked the French state since it forbids him to continue his job. You could pay the dwarf and trow him around for a while, now the poor man can't continue because of a law, true that is brought him to protect him.

Think that cricket and dwarf throwing would be fine, I vote for wheel chair swinging/throwing that would replace the discus.

Chess - Or maybe Nationstates. It may be just crazy enough to work.

So why is rugby still not Olympic? I don't play it but I think their sport unions are or not interested or badly organised. (thought that the complete commonwealth playd it, together with France, Ireland aso.)

Would doping be allowed with NS as a Olympic sport? :)

I don't know about NS (Although I expect so), but pot may well be considered performance enhancing for chess. When I was playing for a team a few years back, there was a match where one of our players turned up stoned. He got slightly obsessed with one little corner of the board, and kept moving all his pieces around in it. This was at just below county-level playing strength and by rights he should have been crushed, but the other guy was so spooked out by it, he offered a draw.

Rugby was in the olympics until 1924, it was scrapped because in the last olympics it appeared in only three nations entered: France, Romania and the US (incidently the US are still technically the olympic champions). I don't think there's much point in re-introducing the full 15 a side version for the same reason as there shouldn't be football (i.e full internal and international tournaments already). However, I think there is talk of making rugby sevens an olympic event.

Well, karate is a general term for martial arts. Currently, the IOC allows Judo, and Taekwondo events. So Karate is already an Olympic sport. You probably meant Shintokan, which is most often considered Karate (ie the Karate kid).

Rockclimbing would be nice to. Anyone who saw a competition like I did (OK the comp. is allways on artificial walls/routes) and saw Muriel Sarkany (multiple worldchampion, or Lyn Hill and other famous climbers) know that it should be , very spectacular and great for the public in the climbinghall.

No athlete in this discipline is ever catched on doping!!!

No, pancration was different, just Google it or read the many articles and books about the ancient games. For example biting in the balls was tolerated

True, but the point is that if MMA was in the original, in a new form it should be allowed in the current (boxing and wrestling have changed alot since then too, boxing was fought with a ward cestus)

Karate is already an Olympic Sport.

I think the drunk walk should be an Olympic Sport.

The competitors each must consume three bottles of wine or equivalent in alchohol content, and then complete a standard field sobriety test. Points will be awarded based on speed and quality of performance by five judges.

About the choice I added with 5000 m. wine drinking, It is not Retsina  But a) Lafitte Rotschild (*tries to find a name that angries as most US Republican wine zelots*)

b) Great late harvest wines from Austria, hungary (Tokaji Aszu  ), or Chateau d'yquem (OK we can not afford this legend)
c) Your own favorite (wich is in fact the most important, don't watch the etiquette, let your tongue decide.
